Will America EVER win another war?

An American asked the question at Tigerdroppings and here is my general argument restated as my reply:

You are going to win this one for sure.

But if you pull out of Iraq without a strategy that ALLOWS you to pull out of Iraq….

(Cutting 1.5 trillion off federal non-defense spending and using one quarter of that to build up the big-bag of American whoop-ass would allow you to pull out with your enemies in great fear)

then this will be a disaster like Vietnam.

Ultimately after you won then lost in Vietnam Reagan emerged to win the wider cold war.

And no matter what you will have to win the wider Jihadist war since if you don’t win they will.

At this point your key strategic weaknesses are:

1. Your addiction to non-defense spending and

2. The American left who are out there constantly confusing the issue.

There is a bit of a myth around that you are suffering from some sort of military overstretch. Nothing could be further from the truth.

You face instead financial overstretch. And that means enemies, friends, the naturally two-faced and the merely envious and resentful can see that you aren’t really going to settle this thing and then build up the whoop-ass-in-waiting to make sure she stays settled.

The illusion of overstretch comes from lending sovereignty to regime leadership who has none of its own and from making it known that you are fighting within a constricted area. Meaning the enemy can come and go FROM that area as it wishes, and they can keep the violence of the war off their own turf.

The upshot being they can think, plan, take stress leave, go on holiday, change their plans without telliing you, and so forth…..

But the “Day That Curly Billy Shot Down Crazy Sam MacGee” we are told that all the people were running, jumping, even thumping on my bad neighbours door.

And when you fight it is the regime leadership that must be put in that position and either hunted down and killed outright or made to know that when relief comes for them that you are busy furiously preparing for such and accounting in the near future and only ongoing and ostentatious shows of contrition will stop that bag of whoop-ass from exploding forth to finish what was not finished the last time that regime leadership had to hit the matresses.

Ultimately you have to act as if it is China you are fighting and not these crackers. Since it is the case that all long wars lead to the sly use of proxies we will find China and other bad bastards secretly trying to bleed you.

The idea in ideological wars is to never allow your own soldiers to come under fire as the result of proxy war. And to avoid this you must pin the enemy down with your own series of proxy wars and when it comes time for you to move it is in the nature of an all enemies springloaded vengeance.

It is ulitmately CUTS TO NON-DEFENSE SPENDING which is your key-performance-metric to success in this war and more generally. Once you have a big gleaming surplus the politicians can be relied on to spend some of it on the military if they are somehow unable to waste it on the usual Shiite.

Another thing is that you must take control of the bullshit momentum in enemy countries as well as Muslim countries that accept your aid.

Though this would be a violation of the concept of freedom of speech if practised domestically, this need not concern you when strong-arming the Egyptians or the Jordanians to see if you get to keep your own money and they get to lose their American aid.

Its Sermon and Sword and Sword and Sermon followed by more Sermons and more Sword or at least by A RIDICULOUS OVERCAPACITY TO WEILD THE SWORD in lieu of the actual using of it right away.

  1. “But if you pull out of Iraq without a strategy that ALLOWS you to pull out of Iraq….”

Never a strategy in the beginning, they didn’t have a plan also for after invasion of Iraq.

Bush “strategy” –“never cut and run.”

James Baker “strategy”—cut and run and ask Syria and Iran to help! (That is so funny thinking about neo-cons bursting a blood vessel)

“At this point your key strategic weaknesses are:

    1. Your addiction to non-defense spending and

    2. The American left who are out there constantly confusing the issue.”

Confusion is a strategic weakness? If you talking about the neo-cons, then OK correct.

    Strategic weakness comes
    1) from neo-con vacuum in the head
    2) from war on abstract noun
    3) from military power never able to overcome resistance to occupation.
    4) from always supporting Israel and cannot be impartial
    5) from must have oil from middle east
    6) from giving Iran the regional dominance
    7) from giving central banks of China, Korea, Russia power to pull carpet from under US dollar
    8) from military power–aircraft carrier will be scrap metal to Yakont missile.
    9) from destroying the NPT
    10) from number one dry drunk–the world is laughing at the political Charly Chaplin, he said even if only his wife and dog Barney support him, he will stay in iraq.

Strategic solution–please let Barney the dog veto the Bush policy.

  2. Some good points there.

Some silly stuff too but nevermind.

  3. THE THREAD OF A BLOW ARSE

Opinions of the wretched Utopian Eschatologists amount to zip, baby …SFA! Yet hard working, respectable types are fooled by the apologistic PC types who prattle on about Human Rights! So they eventually are able to turn this concept, that the REPUBLICANS introduced, by democratically murdering a visionary! Not since Caeser’s demise or John Wilkes Booth, has an historical nasty been unleashed. They believe that this scampering off, like a naughty infant in the midst of civilizing these cats, that things will be OK! Well that’s fatal logic, that’ll only benefit the family Saud….

  4. To paraphrase Mr T. I pity the traitorous fool, who believes that the USA should scurry from the Middle East like some cheap $10 whore! Christ, it’s a war so casualties occur. Just when the world order has been dealt, a bunch of pooy pant liberals suddenly balk & won’t play. For shame!

  5. Keep this dialectic going fellas.

You are BOTH making a great deal of sense.

    Good show.

  6. I can’t tell you how much a relief it is to be amongst such an elite clique of people, who see beyond the restrictive ‘circle’! Without ‘pissing in your pocket’, you Sir, are an innovative visionary who oozes charisma. Sometimes democracy can be a curse! Oh the irony…it’s a shame that minor, separate & bogus issues concerning either corporate or pedophilia allegations may undermine a situation to the advantage of the Free World.

I’m not about to claim that scouts or school camps are significant military experience, but I’ve read extensively so I believe any claims of ignorance are farcical. And who has ever claimed that death & destruction weren’t a side effect of war! Besides both the USA & UK military are only systematically demonstrating unpatriotic treason in recent days anyway, so now I’m even more certain that I’m right.

God Bless George & you, Graeme Bird!

  7. It matters not, that ‘conventional’, albeit normal expectations have equipped you as an ‘expert’ that you confidentally imagine yourself to be. See as far as I’m aware, it isn’t suffeciant to have only read, where the hell is your a-c-t-u-a-l experience? Mate, you give Nerds a bad name – compared to you they’re the testostorone soaked, gutsy warrior with King sized balls you portray yourself as.

  8. Waiting, what’s with the wait?

No sensible, reasoned response when you disagree. Am I beiing unreasonable by expecting something within 24 hours? Even allowing for time zones, this is diabolical! Do I assume that he’s onl human & unable to juggle the blog, whilst licking the Republican’Arse!

  10. Oh this is too much! Hello!…. (And this is repitably a forum! A better world that exclusively molded to the tunneled confines of his highness Graeme Bird)

  11. hey Birdy
it looks like someone’s taking the piss out of you

  12. Oh grow up Neil you pansy! Just because we don’t share the same platitudes as you popularist, liberal lovin’, terrorist types you pounce on any chance to facilitate your world poison! How about you extradite yourself to a part of the free range, organic segment of the cyber galaxy & run free with worship of false idols.

  14. Yeah, who the hell does that impatient McGibbon think he is? So Bird didn’t answer him immediately. Big deal, anyone would believe it was an punishable offence. Has it occurred to him that the visionary, well informed, multi-tasking & omnipresent Bird was possibly busy.

    Keep up the good fight!

  15. Fellas. Fellas.

Now I would like to answer Mr MacGibbon. But I’m scared that it will stop this very good conversation…………..

    Keep it up!!!!!

    Good stuff.

    Don’t hold back gentleman………………

This has been the most intellectual ferment generated on my site for awhile. And I don’t wish to disturb it.

I almost want to pay you guys money.

  16. Well no answer from Mr. Neil yet.

I expect he’s out hugging trees, picketing embassies, signing petitions or just generally being noble & saving the planet . Gee thanks – not!

Well meaning apologists just interfere & fail to grasp the wider picture. Consider it at worst, a form of intellectual apartheid but his liberal platitudes aren’t welcome here!

  17. hey check this out
    http://isteve.blogspot.com/2006/10/so-who-is-ex-larouchie-foreign-policy.html

So, who is the ex-LaRouchie foreign policy pundit?

I won’t explain the persuasive evidence for his long-ago Lyndon LaRouche connection, since that would necessitate revealing his real name, which might hurt him in his day job. But I’m 95% persuaded of a reader’s suggestion that many years ago the individual who is now the extremely self-confident columnist “Spengler” of the Asia Times was a close colleague of the crackpot perennial Presidential candidate.

That reminds me that adventuring in the Middle East seems to appeal most to two sets of people:

    – The not very bright sorts who get Iraq and Iran and Saddam and Osama confused.

    – And the extremely bright but not quite stable sorts who can convince themselves of anything.

  18. Yes, Ian and Arthnur got it. Graeme\’s \”cut through\” of this thorny issue has hit the nail on the head as the tide is coming on our boats that those wet liberals are frantically bailing out.

Look Mr Bird, youre wasting yourtime ignoring getting rid of Neil Gibbons here. More of the world needs to hear from you, big time. I think you should rise as an independant at the next Australia election. No, you won\’t win (this time) but you will get everyone talking about what you put on table. And then next time, we be can really circuit breakers.

Its time someone stood up on those liberals who stand for nothing.

  19. Ordinarily I’d ignore & wouldn’t responds to such horrendous blather, but it’s reassuring to know that bullies like Starkey are confined to cyber-space only. Neanderthals like him give bloggers a bad rap. I thought an intelligent discourse may result, but he haven’t even evolved to that stratosphere yet! If your kind manages to survive to the next millennium, who knows…

  20. He’s talking absolute shit Jason.

I had Spengler pegged for Lee Kwan Yu.

But Sailors got no evidence. If he had he’d put it up. Spenglers no La Rouche type.

If he was we’d be hearing all sorts of weird conspiracy theories.

In any case you cannot overcome peoples arguments by reference to a third party. Sailor sounds like a prize idiot to me. And look how he leaves no room to be interogated on this matter.

  21. this Spengler writes like a (relatively) young guy. He comes across as a bit cocky and all. I don’t think he can possibly be a sober old fellow like Lee Kuan Yew.

  22. I disagree.

    He sounds old to me.

    At least 50.

But who is this Sailor bullshit-artist.

  23. Make that at least about 65.

Plus check out the way Lee Kwan Yu talks. He’s not lacking in confidence.

  24. Still obviously thats a wild guess. If you guess one person out of six or seven billion you are liable to be wrong.

  25. Are you crazy Mark, surely we shouldn’t encourage Bird that he has an iota of ability? He hadn’t! All he’s managed to do is cynically manipulate the enormous polarity that exists between me & that drop kick Starkey.

Look the only advantage to a politically active & visible Bird, is he’d be answerable to his constituents. But his inability to even provide a conventional service illustrates a major flaw.

    And your political nouse stinks.

    LIBERALS FOR EVER!

  26. sailer is right wing but he is a paleo-con like Buchanan

  27. Well look I love Pat. And I like the Austrians. But both groups have taken on the most lamest propagandizing by the left and Spooktown just because it tendentiously supports their position.

You got to go where the chips fall.

  28. Rather than hang around & wait for more abuse; I figure it’s time to quit… Well I’d add ‘…ahead’, except I very much doubt that you war mongering/belligerent wankers would agree. Don’t tell me, you’re all resentful losers who haven’t a hope in hell of establishing anything close to a normal life, so like flies to dog shit, you gather & collectively admire Lee Kwan You’s Wang or pontificate on Bush’s strategy. So Fuck you & I’ll see you’ll on the barricades!
