Sasquatch: Predjudices Live On, Long After The Evidential Picture Has Changed. (SASQUATCH IS ERECTUS.)

Here we must acknowledge Lloyd Pye for his insights. That may or may not be right. But that are nonetheless brilliantly original. I won’t insult him by suggesting that if he is right he would deserve the Nobel Prize. I wouldn’t want that sort of ignominy to befall him given the idiots, frauds and quackademics the prize has recently been handed to. This is important to our heritage, future and survival. So listen up.

Last time we rejected the Sasquatch, back in the 70’s, the thing was he didn’t fit into the alleged evolutionary picture of that time. He didn’t fit into the predominant “Whig Theory Of Evolution” (Paraphrased from the more well-known concept of the “Whig Version Of History.”)

We humans, were supposed to have evolved from being Erectus, and then modernised our act to be Neanderthal, and then we were supposed to have evolved further from being Neanderthal to being Sapiens.

So where would homo-Sasquatch have fitted into this sort of narrative back in the 1970’s? Well we know the answer to that. Sasquatch did not fit into quakademic notions even a little bit. Bigshots throw an evolutionary party but homo-Sasquatch? He’s not invited. He is like how Rambo describes himself in First Blood Part II.

“What means expendable?”

“Its like someone invites you to a party and you don’t show up, it doesn’t really matter.”

Unlike back in the 1970’s (when the Sasquatch craze hit its first peak) we now have a different understanding to how the lineage of hominids worked or did not work. We of course now know, that Erectus, Neanderthal and Sapien all overlapped. They did not morph simply one into the next. So the question now is “Where did these other blokes go?”

Where are these other gentlemen? We Sapiens are still here. Yet we believe that Erectus and Neanderthal are not.

THINK AGAIN!!!!!

“I never died” said he. “I never died ” saith Erectus.

“Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.” I don’t know who this quote is original too. But I read it from Carl Sagan. A bloke not known for fantastic wisdom in the field of epistemology. However there is something in this statement of his. Especially as it refers to the fossil record.

SINCE absence of evidence, is not evidence of absence ……………… it then follows that:

THE FOSSIL RECORD IS NOT THE HISTORICAL RECORD. RATHER IT IS MERELY THE “ON-CAMERA” HISTORICAL RECORD.

Lets go over that again. Too often humans and quackademics look at the fossil record as if it were the historical record proper. This is implausible. Since there is a filter there. You have to become a fossil to get into the register. And its not always easy to become a fossil. The likelihood of a species showing up REPETITIVELY in the fossil record is by no means independent of the ecological niche in which he flourishes.

Evolution is a strange beast. Most of its work is off-camera. It doesn’t work with anything like the forward momentum that most folks seem to assume.

Whatever happened to Erectus and Neanderthal? Being pretty intelligent, powerfully strong, and bipedal, surely has its advantages? So its a mystery where these other blokes got to. Humans could have banded together to defeat Erectus clans. But would this mean extermination? Would we as a race, have hunted them down Nazi-style and murdered every last one of them?

This is simply not plausible and it is a fact that apart from ourselves, these two species faced no credible predator that could possibly deal them a mortal blow AS A SPECIES. No what would have happened is we would have evolved “off-camera” in the niches not condusive to entry into the fossil record. But when we finally emerged fully formed and successful, we then would have driven the other two species (Erectus and Neanderthal) off to the niches that we didn’t particularly care for. Niches that we didn’t care for and that we weren’t powerfully well equipped to compete within.

Whereas the Sheriff and his men, in the book version of “First Blood”, had their act together in the streets of that town, once they stepped into the bush, well they were then in John Rambo’s territory. The Sheriff owns the towns and the open land. But the dense forest belongs to Rambo.

(((((Teasle: He was just another drifter who broke the law!
Trautman: Vagrancy wasn’t it? That’s gonna look real good on his grave stone in Arlington: Here lies John Rambo, winner of the Congressional Medal of Honor, survivor of countless incursions behind enemy lines. Killed for vagrancy in Jerkwater, USA.
Teasle: Now don’t give me any of that crap Trautman. Do you think Rambo was the only guy who had a tough time in Vietnam? He killed a police officer for Christ’s sake!
Trautman: You’re goddamn lucky he didn’t kill all of you.)))))

While Sapiens could band together in bigger numbers (the sort of co-ordination that language allows) and with better weapons, all this would be for nought if we followed Erectus into the deep forests. We would soon find ourselves as vulnerable as those guys trying to chase down John Rambo in First Blood. In this way the niches would have been divided up in terms of military effectiveness.

((((Teasle: Are you telling me that 200 of our men against your boy is a no-win situation for us?
Trautman: You send that many, don’t forget one thing.
Teasle: What?
Trautman: A good supply of body bags.)))))

At first we have the coast. If Erectus shows up we can all go into the water to get away from him. Of course the problem with being a coastal species is that great natural disasters will tend to wipe out your numbers from time to time. But this constant thinning of our numbers allows us better to evolve out of the glare of the fossil record. Essentially the picture would be that we emerge from the coast, and into the fossil record, and chase Erectus and Neanderthal into the niches where they can easily defeat us. We are off-camera for millions of years of our evolution, then we chase them off-camera but we do not send them extinct. Point of fact there was no way we could have sent them extinct, except by utterly gratuitous and evil intention, co-ordinated on a species-wide basis.

So whereas the quackademics of the 1970’s, simply could not fit Sasquatch into the evolutionary fairy-story they had put together, now in 2010, homo-Sasquatch helps add to the picture.

SASQUATCH IS ERECTUS FOR SURE.

He is Erectus for sure. But our prejudices change more slowly than the evidential picture. If he’s there than most likely he is our closest relative. We ought to take him seriously. Seriously enough to go out to the bush with the night vision goggles and pop a dart in his ass. But we will have to hit him with so much tranquilizer as to err on the side of killing him. Because we own the oceans, the open land, the cities, the light forests, and even the dense forests during the daytime hours. At night the dense forests still belong to Erectus. Aka homo-Sasquatch.

The tattooed lady left the circus train,
Lost all of her pictures in the rain,
I wonder if you’re happy,
I wonder if you’re free,
I wonder if you’ll ever know,
The marks you left on me.
I’m the wild man, from Borneo,
The wild man, from Borneo
You come to see,
What you wanna see,
Ah, you come to see,
But you never come to know.

See Lloyd Pye for more of something reasonably close to this version of events.

Now I have an ulterior motive for bringing the movie “First Blood” into this story. Apart from the obvious motive of making the parallel with John Rambo to help people grasp the reality of the situation. Or at least the LIKELY reality of the situation. If millionaires with too much time on their hands start getting busted making you-beaut footprints with fantastically realistic healed scars and dermal ridges, well then the paradigm which says the Sasquatch exists, will sink down below the contrary point of view in terms of ranking. As time goes on if more evidence, and more convincing evidence isn’t forthcoming, though we have the night-goggles and night-photography now …….. well its the same deal. Under these circumstances the idea of Sasquatch being real will lose its number one ranking. But I’m confident the evidence will keep coming in.

So what is the ulterior motive to bringing in John Rambo? Well I just think First Blood is a good and underated movie. The thing is its fundamentally a straight action flick. 90% action. 10% non-action content. But the small amount of content is truly excellent. Which is one reason why some of us are still absolutely delighted when Stallone does fine work, as he quite often does.

Here is the show-stopping scene for me from First Blood. Its like we never gave these kids a chance to grow up and just be kids. Then we expect them to kill people for a dispute not their own. And then we blame them when they get back to the world. All this concern for the Vets might be old hat but it was by no means old hat when this movie came out. Surely only “Uncommon Valour” beat it to the cinemas on this score. Uncommon Valour is one of these films wherein the first half is a sort of masterpiece. But the second part is ho-hum and B-Grade level. Its worth watching the whole thing once over, and the first half every five years.

Well again. Here is for me the show-stopping scene from First Blood. This fellow has run amok throughout the entire film. You only see him as a terminator sort of fellow. Still deeply traumatised, in some ways stubborn, but you never see him in this way, like a person robbed of his rightful late teen years. His speech, garbled though it is, mirrors exactly the true history of the war in Vietnam. Note that he talks AS IF what he is doing in the scene, right that moment, is simply an extension of the war in Vietnam. “Don’t say thatsover. Nothing. You just don’t turn it off….”

If we want to go into the deep forest and hit a Sasquatch with a tranquilizer there is no way to make it safe for the humans without risking the life of Erectus. Its no small mission.

  1. Here is something I’ve been saying for two or three years now:

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-1242011/DAVID-ROSE-The-mini-ice-age-starts-here.html

  2. I’m really starting to like the Freaknomics climate enginerring proposal to pump the place with sulfur dioxide. It really is so much cheaper than a carbon tax

  3. Pop a dart in his ass? Really?

I am as keen as the next man to give Sasquatch a good pounding, but that seems to be taking things a bit far, no?

THEY DON’T CALL HIM HOMO-SASQUATCH FOR NOTHING. AND THIS IS THE BAIT TO THIN DOWN OUR GAY POPULATIONS SOME. HIM BEING SO BIG AND STRONG. HE’D TAKE MORE OFFENSE TO THAT SORT OF THING THAN MARCELLUS WALLACE. ACTUALLY I DIDN’T SEE THESE QUEER IMPLICATIONS RON. I DON’T REALLY HAVE THE TIME TO RE-WRITE IT TODAY. REMEMBER OF COURSE THAT THIS IS ONLY ONE PARADIGM. ONE THAT HAPPENS TO FIT A LOT BETTER THAN IT WOULD SEEM TO HAVE WHEN WE REJECTED THE SASQUATCH IN THE 70’S. IF HOMO-SASQUATCH IS ACTUALLY ERECTUS, THEN THOSE BASTARDS HAVE BEEN DRAWING THE PICTURES WRONG FOR THE LAST 100 YEARS.

  4. “I’d really like to see some serious discussion among countries about it being used as a last minute option if the climate change people turn out to be correct.”

Yes of course but why would they turn out to be correct? And its not the freakeconomics choice. I was telling you about that years before. I was saying that was one of the advantages of having a healthy nuclear/liquified-coal industry. Because you have to scrub the SO2 out of the coal, once the coal is gasified. So you have all this industrial SO2 left over.

All you do is if you are having international flights you have an SO2 rocket. You shoot it into the stratosphere when you are both over open water and over the equator. Its a dirt cheap option. A carbon tax is not only expensive. It doesn’t scientifically cool anything. The SO2 cools the planet without any ambiguity. The carbon tax doesn’t cool a thing.

If we ever overheated it would be because we were going through a part of the galaxy where there wasn’t many of these cosmic rays. So you wouldn’t have the charged particles for the droplet to form around.

What would happen from there is that the atmosphere would tend to fill up with water vapour. Evenutally this would mean that the water vapour coming off the ocean was no longer particularly buoyant compared to the air around it in every case. Water vapour is a cooler. But if it doesn’t go up into the clouds and turn to rain, and rather it hangs around down lower absorbing heaps of energy from above and below, and constantly converting between its airborne micronised liquid water phase and its water vapour phase, then thats a recipe for strong warming.

    So what to do?

I don’t think you need to go the SO2 strategy.

I think you could just ionise the dust particles in the air and bring on the rain when you want it. If you got it raining around noon every day that also would transport a lot of thermal energy out of the atmosphere and into space.

But these are things for the future barring coronal mass ejection. The main thing is to keep our energy production healthy. Use our coal more wisely when we have this potential for nuclear power. The nuclear ought to be for the electricity. The coal ought to be liquified for synthetic diesel.

We won’t see anything but short-term warming in the next 30 years. We are headed for freezing conditions. No hope of crawling out of that anytime North of mid-century.

  5. Wow. Professor Quiggin let three more posts through:

The efficient market theory, as applied to our own powerfully inefficient markets, is a harmful idea. Since it gets in the way of us improving our current markets. To make them more effective in share pricing and resource allocation.

“I should add that with a P/E of 38 Google’s share price doesn’t look like a bubble, at least not by the standards of a decade ago.”

This is a case in point. Surely this is too high if the market really was efficient. Since its hard to imagine Google having higher market penetration than it does now.

Price-Earnings of 38 would either mean a bad year or a company that was destined to grow a lot more.

This is a serious issue. Because if we are over-valuing some companies, we are also likely to be underpricing some companies and under-resourcing them with the capital they would need to grow.

Failing our small companies that ought to grow is a serious handicap to our economy.

I myself would like it that limited liability meant 100% equity finance. I think this would improve the pricing and efficiency of our markets. Also I think that getting rid of taxes on retained earnings of companies would help improve efficiency. As well as more stable monetary policy.

There are some practices of various rogue companies that are a direct attack on efficient share pricing and therefore effective resource allocation. One of those is share-pyramiding. Otherwise known as naked-short-selling.

The ringleader of the current banking heist in America, was a very big offender here. Their euphemism for share-pyramiding was “Prime Brokerage.”

  6. Always you see Erectus drawn like this:

But his build might have been more like this:

  7. Sorry, I’m a bit confused.

Are you saying that Sasquatch is not just homo but also erectus? And at night he hides in bushes waiting for someone to pop him in the ass?

But you don’t see any queer implications?

I am quite troubled by this, Mr B. Quite troubled indeed. I think I may need to head to the bunker for a few days to get my head straight.

  8. I may need to rewrite it to take out all these rather unfortunate connotations.

  9. lets hear your take on geopolitics, Bird. this stuff about the sasquatch is amusing but isn’t your best work

RIGHT. BUT AT LEAST I WANT TO KNOW THAT YOU’VE GOT THE POINT. THAT WHEREAS SASQUATCH COULDN’T BE PUT INTO THE PICTURE THEY HAD OF THE EVOLUTIONARY RECORD, BACK IN THE 70’S, NOW HE’S KIND OF HARD TO LEAVE OUT. SO OUR PREJUDICES OUGHT TO HAVE CHANGED. SINCE THOSE 400 REPORTS A YEAR OF HIS EXISTENCE DON’T LOOK LIKE THEY ARE GOING AWAY. I’VE HEARD IT BROKEN DOWN TO 5000 QUALITY SIGHTINGS, OF FOOTPRINTS OR THE BIG BLOKES THEMSELVES, IN 50 YEARS. THE PICTURE OF HOW WE EVOLVED HAS CHANGED TOTALLY SINCE THEN. SASQUATCH IS PART OF THIS STORY. HE’S ERECTUS BEING CHASED OUT OF THE PRIMO-NICHES TO A NICHE WHEREIN HE CAN DEFEND HIMSELF. OR AT LEAST COULD UNTIL WE GOT THE INFRARED GOGGLES HAPPENING.

  10. Birdie:

I see you’ve changed your view on Goldman Sachs in that they’re your heroes rather than just a bunch if thieves.

NO YOU ARE LYING. THEY ARE STILL A BUNCH OF THIEVES. THE SCUM OF THE EARTH. WRECKER OF THE REPUBLIC. DOGS. VERMIN. THE AMERICANS OUGHT TO TAKE HALF THE SALARIES OFF ALL THE EMPLOYEES GOING BACK TO 2004 AND THROW MOST OF THE TOP MANAGEMENT IN JAIL.

  11. This is a pathbreaking post on finance that I’m hoping Professor Quiggin might approve:

Well theoretically you might use a compromise between these three:

    1. Estimate of discounted future dividends to be paid by the company.
    2. Estimate of discounted future retained profits to be earned by the company.
    3. Estimate of the companies current asset value.

But the thing is, if the company is using debt and is subject to a tax on its retained earnings then the right behaviour, in terms of management serving the shareholder interest, is indeterminate.

Even if you could predict their potential earnings you are still not to come up with a good share price, nor can you prescribe what management behaviour ought to consist of with certainty. Because management doesn’t have a clear policy with which to act upon.

If there is debt involved the companies valuation can be dependent on the rate of monetary growth. Since a highly leveraged company can be better off with a burst of monetary growth.

If the company goes for a high return on total assets it will wind up paying a lot more tax and it is not really possible to know if management is thereby doing the right thing. What this leads to is a massive magnification of the problem of agency.

The market can therefore be made more “efficient” by removing those factors which create all this ambiguity and by at the same time allowing the company to buy back shares.

Debt-financing, erratic monetary policy, and taxes on profits all add ambiguity to the job of pricing the shares. But without these factors the job of management is very clear cut. They ought to maximise book value divided by outstanding shares. And if the company is undervalued they can use their profits to buy back some of these shares.

Without the ambiguity of the factors mentioned then its clear that the company must strive at all costs to make a profit every quarter. Even if this means going into retrenchment.

  12. YOU USELESS PATHETIC LYING WOG CUNT. THEY ARE NOT SELF-MADE MEN. THEY ARE WELFARE QUEENS. WHAT A FUCKING BRAINLESS WOG CUNT YOU ARE NOT EVEN KNOWING THE DIFFERENCE.

YOU ARE JUST FILTH CAMBRIA. YOU ARE JUST A DOG MATE. AN ENEMY OF THE FREE SOCIETY. JOSEPH CAMBRIA IS A COMPLETE CUNT.

  13. THE AMERICANS OUGHT TO TAKE HALF THE SALARIES OFF ALL THE EMPLOYEES GOING BACK TO 2004

    Why 2004?

THEY COULD GO BACK FURTHER AND THEY COULD CUT MORE. THEY OUGHT TO AT LEAST GO BACK AS FAR AS THE CRIMINAL HENRY PAULSONS TENURE AT THE TOP.

WHY DO YOU SUPPORT GOLDMAN SACHS YOU STUPID WOG CUNT?

  14. Why do you support Goldman Sachs you stupid wog cunt Cambria?

You are just basically a fucking idiot aren’t you.

Do you deny that they have stolen 11 trillion dollars this year and are set to do the same again?

  15. Seriously people. Cambria is just a fucking dumb cunt. He’s just an idiot. I mean he actually admires a fucking moron like Paulson.

  16. See how much Cambria lie just constantly to put his idiocy over. This idiotic wog cunt welfare queen accused me of not admiring self-made people.

As long as I can remember I’d been a fan of people like Steve Jobs, Michael Dell, Edison, even T Boone Pickens. As a matter of fact thats almost the only people I tended to admire.

And this fucking parasite Cambria claims that I don’t admire these guys and he rubs their nose in shit comparing the real deal to those utter cunts in Goldman Sachs.

  17. Really Cambria and Birdlab have to be the same fucking idiot. They both lie constantly to try and put their idiocy over.

Imagine this useless wog cunt, no good for anything at all, telling me I don’t like self-made people, and using Goldman Sachs criminals and enemies of the free economy as his example. Only birdlab would also be that idiotic.

  18. I SAID EARLIER WOULD BE FINE YOU DUMB CUNT. I’VE ALREADY ANSWERED THE QUESTION.

NOW YOU FOCUS ON THE QUESTION. WHY DO YOU SUPPORT GOLDMAN SACHS YOU STUPID PARASITICAL WOG CUNT?

  19. HOW ABOUT STEALING 11 TRILLION ALREADY AND GOING TO STEAL ANOTHER 11 TRILLION. HOW ABOUT RUINING THE REPUBLIC, TAKING AWAY OUR MILITARY COVER SO THAT I MAY HAVE TO FIGHT, CAMBRIA MAY HAVE TO BRIBE, AND YOU MAY HAVE TO BE INTERRED.

CAN YOU THINK OF ANYTHING YOU CAN FIND TO LIKE ABOUT THESE CUNTS. OR ARE YOU SAYING THAT STEALING VIA INFILTRATION OF THE GOVERNMENT IS FREE ENTERPRISE?

STOP FUCKING HUMOURING THIS WOG CUNT OR FUCK OFF.

  20. WHAT HAS THAT GOT TO DO WITH ANYTHING? STOP HUMOURING THE WOG CUNT OR FUCK OFF.

WHAT IS FREE ENTERPRISE ABOUT GOLDMAN SACHS OPENLY SCUTTLING THE TREASURY?

HAVE YOU LOST YOUR FUCKING MIND JASON SOON? YOU SHOULDN’T EVEN BE TALKING TO THAT CUNT CAMBRIA. YOU OUGHT TO HAVE BANNED THIS CUNT BEFORE YOU HANDED OVER YOUR BLOG.

  21. NO YOU STUPID WOG CUNT. STEALING IS NOT WHAT BEING SELF-MADE IS ALL ABOUT.

DESPITE YOU BEING TOO MUCH OF A PRIMITIVE WOG CUNT TO TELL THE DIFFERENCE THIS IS JUST A FACT.

  22. Can anyone seriously make the case that infiltrating the government and helping yourself to the treasury is capitalism in action?

I expect THR to say this. Even Philomena. But they would be betraying no-one in doing so. There is something very very slimy about you Jason Soon. You ought to be spitting on Cambria and yet you are toadying to him.

  23. NO YOU ARE FUCKING LYING. ITS A FACT THAT GOLDMAN SACHS HAS SCUTTLED THE AMERICAN TREASURY.

THIS IS WHAT THEY DO IN AFRICA. YOUR CLAIM IS BASICALLY THAT EVERY AFRICAN DICTATOR IS A HARDWORKING SUCCESSFUL CAPITALIST THAT WE OUGHT TO ADMIRE AND EMULATE.

YOU WILL ALWAYS BE A PRIMITIVE GOTH WOG CUNT CAMBRIA. YOU ARE TOO PRIMITIVE TO TELL THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN STEALING AND CREATING WEALTH.

  24. I’ll ask again:

Can anyone seriously make the case that infiltrating the government and helping yourself to the treasury is capitalism in action?

Everyone has to understand that Joseph Cambria was always a complete fuckwit. A stupid cunt that cannot tell Jobs from Paulson. Edison from Geithner. Mises from Bernanke.

  25. THEY ARE THIEVES. THEY INFILTRATED THE GOVERNMENT AND STOLE 11 TRILLION DOLLARS.

  26. NO NO. THEY ARE THIEVES. THEY STOLE 11 TRILLION DOLLARS AND PLAN TO STEAL 11 TRILLION MORE.

  27. I’ll ask again:

Can anyone seriously make the case that infiltrating the government and helping yourself to the treasury is capitalism in action?

It reminds me of the Orren Boyle character. Gets a 100 million dollar loan from the government for no interest, and makes a fortune. Then says that this proves that an enterprising person can still make his way to the top through hard work.

These people are moochers and parasites. To pretend otherwise is to lie. Not allowed on this site.

  28. SHUT UP YOU STUPID WOG CUNT JOSEPH CAMBRIA.

THESE ARE WELFARE RECIPIENTS. AND PEOPLE WHO MAKE FORTUNES ON THE BASIS OF GOVERNMENT WELFARE LOOT ARE NOT THE SAME AS SELF-MADE MEN.

DO YOU UNDERSTAND THAT NOW YOU STUPID WOG CUNT?

YOU ARE JUST NOT THAT SMART ARE YOU?

  29. I think that we can fucking lock it in that welfare queens are not the same as self-made men like Steve Jobs and Michael Dell.

Imagine people so fucking moronic that they would even argue the point?????

    Incredible.

  30. Can we lock that in now?

Welfare Queens who would have been out of a job if not for an 11 trillion dollar heist, are not the same as self-made men.

    Is that locked in?

Or do you still not get it?

Does anyone still not understand that? Henry Paulson is not George Eastman. Its not the same thing. You might think its the same thing you stupid wop primitive. But its not.

  31. LETS GO OVER IT AGAIN. I ADMIRE AND DO NOT USUALLY ENVY WEALTH PRODUCERS LIKE STEVE JOBS OR GEORGE EASTMAN, OR JOHN D ROCKEFELLER.

YOU MIGHT NOT SEE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SUCH PEOPLE AND CRONIES, THIEVES AND WELFARE QUEENS. BUT THIS IS SOMETHING RELATING TO YOU BEING A STUPID WOG PRIMITIVE. A MORON. AN IDIOT.

MOST PEOPLE OF THE AUSTRALIAN HERITAGE AND MANY PEOPLE IN OTHER NON-PRIMITIVE CULTURES CAN IN FACT MAKE THAT DISTINCTION. THAT YOU CANNOT IS IN NO WAY TO YOUR CREDIT.

  32. If this inability to understand is what immigration brings us then its time to cut back.

  33. I’VE ANSWERED THAT QUESTION TWICE ALREADY YOU DUMB WOP.

  34. Is anyone still not clear on the distinction between a wealth producer in a free market and a welfare queen benefiting from government gifts?

  35. HAS IT REPAID ITS GIFTS? HAS IT REPAID THE 11 TRILLION?

  36. What about you Jason? You still not quite making that distinction? Wrinkle up that Asiatic brow and see if that helps.

Cambria is a dumb wop. That he cannot see any difference doesn’t mean you ought to dumb your act down just to toady to him.

  37. FIND OUT. YOUR IGNORANCE DOESN’T COME INTO THIS MATTER. HOW MUCH HAS BEEN BORROWED OR CREATED IN AID OF THE BAILOUT SO FAR. IN AID OF THE STIMULUS PACKAGE AS WELL. WHAT IS YOUR FIGURE. COME UP WITH A SERIOUS FIGURE AND I MAY ADOPT IT.

  38. Is anyone still not clear on the distinction between a wealth producer in a free market and a welfare queen benefiting from government gifts?

Jason imagine you got all the benefits that the banks get. Suppose these favours began when you were twenty? Is there any chance at all that you would not be a billionaire by the age of 50?

  39. THERE ISN’T A BANK BAILOUT THEY HAVEN’T BENEFITED FROM. AND BANK SUBSIDIES AND BAILOUTS ARE A CONTINUOUS FEATURE.

  40. Are you still not clear on the distinction between a wealth producer in a free market and a beneficiary of relentless government subsidy?

  41. Does anyone imagine that if they received the full spectrum of banking subsidies from the age of 20 that they would NOT be billionaires by the age of 50?

Would that make one the equivalent of Steve Jobs?

  42. We see with these imports, they have a hard time grasping what ought to be easy stuff.

  43. Look at that. CL and THR ought to be spitting on Cambria and calling for Sinclair to get rid of this low dog. Instead they are supporting him.

THR face it. You were weak on the bailout. I wasn’t the least bit shocked that you weren’t necessarily in awe of Rudd.

But lets face it. You are all talk. When you have the stealing dog in front of you you cannot even bring yourself to say a nasty word to him. You were always weak on the bailout in all your many disguises. The only exception was as your persona as a young teenage chinese rapper.

  44. OK enough toadying to government (the Fed and Goldman Sachs are effectively government) and get back to the thread.

Lets have some sensible comments on why you think that the Sasquatch is really homo Erectus or otherwise.

  45. Just when you think this stupid wog cunt cannot possibly get any more idiotic:

“Actually the bank bailout was an interesting phenomena as both Main street left and right hated it.”

Too stupid to understand that people of all sorts do not like it when you steal from them.

  46. PROBABLY NOT THE SAME CHROMOSOME COUNT BUT THIS IS UNKNOWN. YOU HOWEVER ARE A PRIMITIVE LOW-LIFE. SO IN ALL LIKELIHOOD YOU HAVE THE NECESSARY 48 CHROMOSOMES TO MAKE THAT GIG COME ALIVE.

  47. Graeme, watch Deadwood

  48. perhaps this will inspire you to write more geopolitics

  49. Ok. Yeah I remember you guys talking about it. I will watch it then.

I’m seeing a lot of happy-talk from Sinclair about the American economy. They cannot recover unless things change. No use trying to sugar-coat that story.

  50. I just backtracked to the first one. I found that more pleasing but the scene was a bit shocking in that he went with the short straw, whereas you might have expected him to kill the fellow who was unapologetic and racist. Good writing.

  51. I guess watching clips doesn’t give the full picture.

he couldn’t kill the racist guy because that was his competitor’s guy. he could’ve cried foul and got both him and Wu in trouble,

  52. Right. So he was bullshitting about the straws. He was just using that as a diversion for the guy who had to die and to scare the shit out of the fellow he was going to let live.

  53. This is why capitalism is good and cronyism is not to be tolerated. Under capitalism, with slight (but in the long run powerful) bias towards the little guy and the sole trader, there is never the example where to get by, you are going to be forced to act in this terrible and callous fashion.

Is this fellow a bit like a Lucifer character? Like for the most part do people cop it for being unrighteous?

  54. Mr B

I just read the most terrifying thing.

If this doesn’t shake us out of our stupor, nothing will.

It is absolutely urgent that we wake up to ourselves and stop worrying about a bit of warming – fuck the Polar Bears – and instead confront the Menace discussed in this eye-opening Article.

  55. Fucking Brooks is a wet weed isn’t he?

He’s a conservative allegedly, anointed by our own commie power-maker fucking Philip Adams.

Fucking Phil. For years I heard him promoting Rudd. And then years later we get this fucking asshole as Prime Minister. A person peculiarly unqualified for the job. And here Brooks has got a gig with Phil. And then he winds up as Americas token conservative behind enemy lines. But Phil wouldn’t have given him a gig if Phil did not know he was basically a commie.

  56. Ron I’m just looking through the Bilderburg file. I cannot tell you how much I admire the wealth-creator John D Rockefeller. And how much I despise his offspring.

Even though in technical economics inheritance tax is a direct tax on capital …… still we must throw our net wider. And we ought to construct a system that can prevent a great mans descendants from undermining the rest of us like John-D offspring have done.

We cannot go in for the death tax of a huge amount when the old man dies. Thats unrighteous and no good.

I think we better nail these bastards for 1% per year on the capital value of their inheritance for 100 years after that though. We just cannot have this inherited elite.

If we cannot learn from the advent of David Rockefeller then we cannot learn.

  57. Holy shit. Its pretty clear that people are famously interested in the Sasquatch. My stats are soaring.

  58. Rest assured Birdie, no-one but no one listens to or takes jc seriously on anything, let alone matters financial, monetary, or economic.

  59. Did Sasquatch have language? No evidence for that. Nor did Homo erectus did it? And without language emotionality in animals is heightened and maxed out to the level of uncontrollability at crucial times and this is a distinct disadvantage since that precludes self-discipline and strategic planning, decision making and canny action.

All of which points again to the development of language by homo sapiens as being decisive. No?

  60. Yeah I think you are right. Because without language proper you can maybe co-ordinate a clan of four or five in a rumble. Primates are just incredibly much more stronger than humans. But if you have four humans back to back with spears that is deterrence and if you have 50 of them in a co-ordinated attack, well that would take language for such co-ordination.

Nothing in the reports suggest that Sasquatch has language. But when they play a tape of him wailing in the night the cats run under the bed and even the attack dogs go quiet. Erectus as well is not thought by the experts to be able to modulate sounds so as to cut them up into language.

One wonders if part of learning how to modulate words comes with the adaption of holding ones breath and diving for shellfish over millions of years.

  61. Thats why adapting to the night shift, and running into the thick bush is so advantageous. Once there, no human co-ordination could save the humans from an animal that fantastically strong.

  62. STUPID WOP. DON’T KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN STEALING MONEY AND MAKING IT. ALL THE SAME TO A PRIMITIVE GOTH ONE SUPPOSES.

  63. You see a picture of Erectus. And he is tall and slender. Then the text tells you that he is more robust than the human. But the bones were thick. Gorilla thick. If you have thick bones like that you have muscles so strong that the lifting would snap thinner bones. The two go hand in hand except for in some specifically iron-pumped humans whose arms snap in arm-wrestling competition. So Erectus is more like Patti. Thats their sheilas. I’ve got to see a reason why Erectus is not more like a fantastically muscular gorilla but cut out for smooth upright walking. I’ll believe contrary evidence when I see it.

  64. It’s not just the functionality of language that’s crucial. That’s a given. It’s what language gave to us on a cognitive, psychological, physiological, mental, emotional, etc., level.

Language led to abstraction which meant an ability to distance oneself from all that is non-Self and this brought into being a qualitatively different and better mechanism for things such as self-defence, self-preservation, self-reflection and self-understanding which led then too to so much else. A secret garden of wonders and mysteries.

  65. Um Graeme, there’s no evidence for any such thing as Sasquatch.
    .
We are off-camera for millions of years of our evolution
    .
If by we you mean our species, well we’ve only been around 100 000 years. At least as far as we know.

  66. Erectus referred to females and males. Are you suggesting otherwise with your derisory reference to “sheilas’?

  67. Right yeah. I definitely take your point. There is some idea that the Neanderthals were pretty smart. Had developed good tools and things. Probably took things as far as they could without a more fully developed language. One has to go on what others say and its something that I could never be sure about.

But the human is really night and day. The old idea of a missing link is coming back I think. I think it has to be explained by us developing over millions of years away from the fossil record. Lloyd Pye and others put it down to intervention about 200 000 years ago and I don’t disrespect this verdict.

  68. “Erectus referred to females and males. Are you suggesting otherwise with your derisory reference to “sheilas’?”

Oh no no. I’ll be careful of what I’m saying. I don’t want to create the wrong impression. What I’m trying to say is that their females would have been powerfully muscular. And the blokes on average would have been bigger still, one assumes. Either way their bone strength implies a much stockier build than in the pictures. Also there is no reason that I know of to suppose that they had been rid of their Gorilla hair. And so there is every expectation that the pictures we have been sold on are not anything like Erectus looked like.

  69. Yeah Neanderthal is hardly a term of abuse anymore. They used tools and fashioned their environment in ways comparable to homo sapiens.

I guess you’re referring to “alien” intervention. Who knows. As you know the fossil and other relevant records are too sparse and inconclusive for us to know anything much for certainty about human and other species evolution.

  70. “Oh no no. I’ll be careful of what I’m saying. I don’t want to create the wrong impression. ”

Yes, you are always a perfect gentleman normally with me Birdy.

  71. Right. But I think the old idea of us descending direct from Erectus has to be seen as suspect. There really is a big leap that is hidden for us by the way these pictures are drawn. Arbitrarily lightly haired and lightly muscled.

So I think what we can say is that barring alien intervention we evolved for a very long time “off-camera” as it were. I think we could be pretty sure about that. The idea of us just leaping from Erectus to archaic homo-sapien is not all that credible a prospect.

  72. Also I think driving these other guys “off-camera” is more credible than us exterminating every last girl-child of them.

I think we have to learn not to be biased by the biases inherent in what winds up in the record.

  73. “Primates are just incredibly much more stronger than humans.”

Physical strength became redundant at some point didn’t it as an evolutionary advantage. And even then strength was never the lay down misere. Just as well. And that’s more so true today than ever before and a definite advantage for the goodies.

  74. Exterminating other species is a noxious idea and not one that a civilised, sane or smart species would ever contemplate let alone act on.

  75. Sure. Co-ordination and superior tools can beat strength. But think how the differences are swung around between sapiens with spears near the watering hole during the day, and then going into the deep almost impenetrable bush at night.

  76. Co-ordination is the wrong word. Conscious collective action is what can beat an ostensibly materially stronger adversary.

Think of any historical examples of this?

  77. Well you could go to the ruthless British taking over India. But you may be thinking of the Vietnamese persisting against the Americans. Although there is a lot going into that story.

  78. I guess I’m just going to have to talk about what an idiot Cambria is more or less around the clock.

I mean here are these people. They make bad bets. They make bad loans and they pass them off globally as A-grade. They don’t have a fucking clue what they are doing. One scam after another. And when their incompetence catches up with them they steal their way out of trouble.

And the fucking moron Cambria talks about them as if they were self-made entrepreneurs.

The guy is just a fucking idiot.

So what this means is Mugabe and his coterie …. they are all self-made go-getters too. Every third-world knucklehead who ever stole a billion dollars would have to be an ambitious go-getter to be compared with Steve Jobs according to this primitive idiot. The Zimbabwaen central banker. He’s a self-starter in this stupid wops view.

  79. Anyone NOT believe they would be a billionaire in 30 years with Goldman Sachs benefits?

You know what they’ve been making a lot of money on lately. Fucking underwriting. Underwriting backed by the taxpayer, the printing press, and the central bank, they are pulling money from underwriting in the midst of financial distress. They are basically gifted the underwriting profits from government backing.

Cambria is just such a fucking moron.

  80. History has already condemned the déclassé Cambrias and Jason Soons of this world, Birdie.

    They’re really beneath your dignity.

Much more interesting topics to discuss, things to deconstruct.

  81. Bird;

you’re not american, so whay are you do down on GS when our own banks have been helped eve n more?

I still don’t understand your hatred of GS. Is it just an emotional response? And why 2004?

BEFORE THE CRISIS YOU WOULD BE RIGHT. BUT NOT AFTER THE CRISIS. YEAH YOU ARE HALF-RIGHT (I’LL ALERT THE MEDIA) ABOUT OUR BANKS. WE HAVE THIS FOUR BLUDGERS POLICY. THEY CALL IT A FOUR PILLARS POLICY. BUT ITS A FOUR BLUDGERS POLICY. ITS A DISGRACE.

I’D JUST LIKE TO HEAR SOME BANKERS ESPOUSING THE IDEA THAT THEY OUGHT TO LIVE OFF A FAIR AND UNSUBSIDISED WAGE. WHICH MEANS OF COURSE A CUT OF THE INTEREST AND NO INTEREST RATE SUBSIDY. NO MONEY CREATION. AND THEY MUST GET THE TERM DEPOSITS BEFORE THEY MAKE THAT LOAN. IDIOTS LIKE YOU, REYNOLDS AND THAT DUMMY EDNEY RECKON ITS A BIT TOO MUCH FOR BANKERS TO EARN THEIR LIVING.

  82. Unfortunately Mr Bird truth is my husband is an amoral carpetbagger. There isn’t a single thing he would not do to turn a quick buck to benefit himself and satisfy his personal monetary greed. He’d whore his own children if he thought the price was right.

  83. Good on Google. Someone has to teach these fuckers a lesson

    http://news.smh.com.au/breaking-news-world/google-threatens-to-quit-china-over-cyberattacks-20100113-m5if.html

  84. Right. The corporate world has lost their pride. Toadying to these people. They take one of our guys hostage one day, we do a gas deal with them the next, and the day after that the papers trumpet an alleged triumph of diplomacy.

A triumph of diplomacy is we get our bloke home, with communists bowing and scraping, sending presents to his wife, and half a dozen bigshots are subject to “self-criticism” and then virtual house arrest for ever upsetting the Australians. Dumb sons of bitches in our press and government cannot even tell diplomatic success from failure. What hope is there for us.

  85. Rudd is an ex diplomat. what more do you need to know?

  86. Yeah isn’t it funny. Here he is, an ex-diplomat as you say. Doesn’t appear to know the difference between success and failure in diplomacy. Success for him appears to be getting along with world leaders, starting another new international body for cocktail-drinking and diluting sovereignty, getting to sit next to Caliph Obama at Copenhagen, and bribing and armtwisting Indonesians to solve a problem for us.

Whereas in reality success would have been getting the Raptor, trading more weapons sales for us getting out of Iraq and Afghanistan without rancour, sweet-talking China to pull all their agents of influence out on the sly, so as to avoid embarrassment, pulling out of a range of international treaty obligations without being branded a pariah, going nuclear on our navy, not to target civilians but simply so our guys aren’t getting about in floating coffins and everyone knows that they cannot mass forces for an invasion into Australia, since to mass them is to lose them……..

…….. convincing China that any ill-treatment of Australian citizens means being suspended from coal purchases, payments of interest and capital, not to be made up at any time, and a caterpillar of diplomatic shoes falling hard on their ass such that their entire standing in the world would be diminished……..

…. And most of all taking care of these refugees, with good fucking toilets, in a decent place to live, where they can get low-paid work in a rural setting, locals compensated with a tax-free zone, even as the interlopers are put to the back of the line in terms of long-term immigration to Australia.

I fucking cannot abide the milky bar kid. wasting time in Copenhagen, when we have our Sri Lankin brothers and sisters in the position of not even so much as having enough toilets and the humiliation, discomfort and bad hygiene that implies. Imagine women and young kids or anyone, having to got to the toilet and there is no toilet available. If this isn’t a violation of human rights I don’t know what would be.

This is not an anti-labour thing. Labour has had good people in the past.

  87. http://www.theage.com.au/opinion/Graeme-Bird-New-RBA-Governor

  88. Wow, Graeme, that’s the first time I’ve ever seen an Australian libertatian show any compassion for fellow human beings doing it hard.

    Congratulations.

    • The other guys aren’t libertarians Philomena. They just pretend to be for street cred reasons, to counsel inaction, sell out our sovereignty, or to block true supporters of liberty via the technique of the “reversal”. Formerly known as the “leftist reversal” before you showed up.

  89. Good one soon. I’d do a great job at that. But the difficult thing would be keeping a straight face when I accepted the salary package. Essentially it would be a part-time gig for me.

On the other hand shaking up the department would probably be a big deal.

  90. bird:

can we get back the Tsunami was caused by a bolt from out of deep space.

TRUE STORY. I KNOW YOU AREN’T ABOUT TO ACCEPT REASON IN FINANCE. BUT ARE YOU NOW TURNING OVER A NEW LEAF AND ACCEPTING REASON IN PHYSICS?

  91. I’D BE LOBBYING FOR TAX EXEMPTIONS FOR THOSE I WAS ABOUT TO SACK, AND FOR THIS POLICY TO BE OFFERED TO THE STATES WHO WANTED TO BRING THEIR BUDGETS UNDER CONTROL ALSO.

THE FIRST THING TO DO WOULD BE TO CHANGE A LOT OF THE STATISTICS OR RATHER ADD TO THEM. AND TO WIPE OUT AND MAKE ILLEGAL THE PRACTICE OF SUBSIDISING BANKS AND CALLING THIS GIVEAWAY “MONETARY POLICY.”

  92. oh great work, bird. Sack people and then we subsidize their leisure. Infinite wisdom i see here.

THAT WOULD BE BAD IF WE DID THAT. THIS IS CALLED “REDUNDANCY PAYMENTS” WHEREAS TAX EXEMPTIONS ARE TAKING AWAY DISINCENTIVES TO THEIR WORK EFFORTS. THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT YOU ARE SAYING.

THE WHOLE IDEA OF TAX EXEMPTIONS IS TO TAKE AWAY THE SUBSIDY TO LEISURE. HOW COULD YOU GET THAT SO ASS-BACKWARDS DUMMY. NOW INSTEAD OF THE REDUNDANCY PAYMENT YOU GIVE THEM THE TAX EXEMPTION OF AT LEAST TWICE THE AMOUNT. BUT IF THEY GO TO CENTRELINK PAYMENTS THEY LOSE THREE DOLLARS IN TAX EXEMPTION FOR EVERY DOLLAR THAT IS PAID OUT UNDER CENTRELINK. SO 180 DEGREES DIFFERENT FROM WHAT YOUR MINDLESS JUDGEMENT TELLS YOU IT WOULD BE THE OTHER WAY AROUND. THEY WOULD BE PRETTY MUCH FORCED OUTRIGHT TO WORK IN THE PRIVATE SECTOR.

ALSO THE FORMULA YOU SET UP OUGHT BE DESIGNED TO BUILD A CONSTITUENCY FOR GROWTH-DEFLATION.

  93. ISN’T IT LEGITIMATE PAYBACK ON THE BASIS OF YOUR REPEATED INSULTS TO MY FRIEND? I’M OPEN TO PERSUASION ON THIS MATTER. BUT DO YOU NOT SEE THE CONNOTATIONS AND THE WAY THEY WOULD SLIME HER ONLINE PERSONA?

SUPPOSING YOU WERE TO ARGUE THAT OTHER PEOPLE WERE DOING IT. IN MY BOOK THAT WOULD MAKE IT WORSE NOT BETTER BECAUSE THAT WOULD BE PACK-ANIMAL BEHAVIOUR.

I’M NOT BEING HIGH AND MIGHTY HERE. I’VE BEEN REALLY INSULTING OF FEMALES ON THE NET.

    http://notahedgehog.wordpress.com/2008/12/25/the-christmas-spirit/

BUT I’VE NEVER BEEN SO IN QUITE THE REPETITIVE WAY WE ARE TALKING ABOUT HERE. AND NEVER AS PART OF A PACK. WE ARE TALKING ABOUT YOU, PEDRO ……. CL IS A LITTLE DIFFERENT, I’LL NOT GROUP HIM IN WITH THE REST OF YOU, ALTHOUGH I REALLY THINK HE TOO COULD HAVE EXERCISED RESTRAINT …….

… BUT THEN PRETTY MUCH EVERYONE TAKING A SHOT AT HER HERE AND THERE. NOT ONE OF THEM HAS YET APOLOGISED AND I WOULD OF THOUGHT EVERYONE, STOPPING JUST SHORT OF CL, OWES HER AN APOLOGY BIGTIME. ITS THIS RUNAWAY GROUP BEHAVIOUR WE CANNOT ALLOW, MUCH LESS ENCOURAGE. GREENFIELD WAS ALRIGHT. BECAUSE WHEN I SAID HEY BROTHER ITS GONE TOO FAR TOO LONG HE DID THINK ABOUT IT AND HE DID BACK OFF BUT YOU DID NOT.

ITS SMELT OF CENTRAL EUROPE IN THE 1930,s AND YOU WERE PARTICULARLY BAD BECAUSE YOU DIDN’T ACT LIKE THE SUN GETS UP IN THE MORNING AND YOU MIGHT BURY THE HATCHET AND SEE HOW THAT WENT. YOU WERE AN INITIATOR DAY AFTER DAY. MY FRIEND WOULD OFTEN INITIATE HOSTILITIES TOWARDS CL. BUT NOT TO ALMOST ANYONE ELSE AND YOUR BEHAVIOUR I SAW AS REALLY BEYOND THE PALE. ITS TRUE I’M BIASED, AND EVERYONE WOULD KNOW THAT, BUT I THINK I’M BEING OBJECTIVE HERE.

AS I SAID I’M OPEN TO PERSUASION, BUT SO FAR YOU HAVEN’T BEEN THE LEAST BIT PERSUASIVE (“least bit persuasive” sometimes I use understatement for effect) AND UNTIL I AM PERSUADED, MY OFFICIAL POSITION IS THAT THESE MESSAGES ARE COMING FROM PAM AND TELL YOU THE TRUTH I HAVEN’T CHECKED ONE WAY OR THE OTHER.

  94. Birdie did you when a human baby was brought up with a baby Chimpanzee (Winthrop Niles Kellogg – The Ape and the Child) it was found that the chimp’s intelligence at least during the first 18months of life was more or less equal to the human’s.

  95. Thats really interesting. One might think you have two factors here. Ultimate capacity and the language factor.

I read that a premature chimp baby looks oddly like a human baby. A bit of a testimony to neotony in our evolutionary history. I haven’t seen the pictures to see if this is true. Certainly old men begin to look more like gorrillas and our racial differences seem to subside a bit with age.

  96. The intelligence of humans couldn’t have developed without the fulfilment of certain physiological and mechanical conditions some of which we shared with hominids, e.g. upright carriage & the consequent development of the hand and the larynx. Our higher type of evolution progress was also the result of multi-faceted, generalised rather than specialised biological development which gave us greater adaptability and flexibility and the ability to keep progressing in the direction of greater awareness, intelligence, control or manipulation of our environment.

Our sense of smell is relatively poor and has proved to be an advantage in many ways because in other animals it’s charged with a strong emotional content that can be very distracting and upsetting.

  97. Mr Bird your self-awareness is admirable and an indication of your maturity and intelligence. Sadly, jc is a different kettle of fish entirely. He lacks self-knowledge.

JC’s in deep denial about the ash-heap of our marriage and his moral and legal responsibilities to me and to the future well-being of our children. He’s in poor health (the halitosis has been traced to advanced gum disease) a physical deterioration not helping his psychological state, typically simultaneously fragile, self-pitying and explosive (if I may resort to understatement, Mr Bird!).

I do wish jc would get a job and get out of the house. Not too much for a busy wife and mother to ask surely. He sits in a darkened airless room at his pc, smoking like a piece of rancid bacon cooking for days on a hot stove, from midmorn till the early hours of the next, pretending to research and work. But I know he’s just frittering away his days and life surfing the web, downloading porn and pounding the keyboard in a fury posting deranged, illogical, pig-ignorant and personally abusive comments directed at an endless number of hapless innocent people who visit blogs such as yours.

I’m not surprised about your word portrait of his leadership of a mob bullying a woman commenter on one of these blogs. He himself experienced mobbing as a child, as did his poor southern Italian working-class immigrant father.

Like his father (who in turn used to beat, berate and belittle little JC terribly), he vowed he would never allow himself to be so humiliatingly put down and bullied again.

Unfortunately JC interpreted this dreadful childhood experience as necessitating *his* abuse as an adult of women and children and vulnerable people in general.

It’s good you stand up to him Mr Bird. Many people do, including the children who live in our neighbourhood he tries to run down in his car or who he throws rocks at if they come too close to the front gate. This is cause for optimism and celebration.

I drink a toast to you Mr Bird. You’re a fabulous male role model I do sincerely believe. And I deeply regret a real man such as you was not the father of my poor, effectively fatherless, children, rather than the appalling human wretch known as JC.

  98. Primates are just incredibly much more stronger than humans.
    .
    Humans are primates.

YOU MORON ADRIEN. I DON’T NEED TO REFER TO US AS PRIMATES ANY MORE THAN I NEED TO REFER TO US AS APES. PARTICULARLY NOT WHEN THE CONTEXT IS TO DIFFERENTIATE BETWEEN HUMANS AND OTHER PRIMATES, OR OURSELVES AND OTHER APES. YOU ARE A BRAINLESS WASTE OF SPACE.

  99. “Putt” is a notable Freudian slip, Mr Bird.

JC is hopeless (of course) at golf.

He’d love to be able to slip around the courses even on his own and make like he’s Howard Hughes, F. Scott Fitz, or our very own Jamie Packer. Alas and alack poor blighter lacks the requisite physical grace and co-ordination to be any sort of sportsman. Yet another reason he hides in the dark day after day like the blood-sucking vampire he has totally become.

  100. Adrien, you seem to have caught the JC anti-truth virus. Philomena is someone who used to post on that blog and still does infrequently and unimpeded according to her whim without in any way attempting to deceive.

If she’s a friend of the estimable Mr Bird as she surely is why then she’s surely a friend of mine. And as JC’s wife I apologise now to her for my husband’s horrifyingly abusive and destructive behaviour towards her on that blog on a regular basis over approaching 12 months.

  101. Birdie, I’ve been at a course and wanted to tell you about it.

I’ve just finished a series of lectures on the poetry of Catullus. It’s thought Catullus was well-born and well-educated and mixed with the elite of Roman society. Most of the entire collection of his poetry was destroyed in the fire of Alexandria and lost for centuries. Only in the 13th century was a manuscript of the poems, or some of them, found in a wine jar in Verona, his place of birth.

Most of Catullus’s poems are directed to or about many real people, including Caesar, Cicero and Pompey, whom he lampoons in Martial-like epigrams and satirical, mocking poems. He often ridicules people because of their appearance, their physical ugliness, or way of dressing, and because of their sexual activity.

His poems were written to be performed probably at soirees or dinners of the elite, and it seems the
period in which he lived was relatively liberal in
that he appeared to suffer no consequences either for the bawdy, scurrilous, insulting content of the poems, or from the fact that they often targeted powerful rulers and their henchmen.

The most famous series of poems are the ones he
addresses to Lesbia. No one knows for sure if she was really his lover, or a metaphor or literary device which allowed him to explore intense human emotions, in particular passionate love and physical desire, spiritual bonding, emotional ambivalence, despair, rejection, and finally hatred – all for the one person.

His literary mentor in these poems was the much
earlier Greek poet Sappho of Lesbos, and it is said she “taught” him to write about love. He pays direct homage to her in some of his poems, which copy or reflect similar blazing sentiments, though directed towards her female lovers. Onew of the lecturers said some scholars have said that
Catullus seems to identify even with Lesbia, with the feminine, or conversely, that he gives Lesbia
masculine characteristics, and places himself in the female role in relation to her, such is the personal power she seems to have, and the masculine-like way she lives in relation to her husband, numerous lovers, etc.

There are all sorts of possible interpretations of
what Catullus was doing, expressing in the Lesbia poems.

Lesbia is thought by some to be Clodia, the femme fatale wife of a prominent (nice but boring) Roman politician. She was some years older than he. He never describes her (other than saying she had a “shiny, sexy foot” and we never hear her voice. She too was well-born, more high-born than he, well-educated, liberal, and very promiscuous.

Catullus’s poems about her trace the evolution of his feelings towards her, beginning with total physical attraction and fascination, which transmutes into a profound love, a love, he says, qualitatively different from the normal love a man feels for a woman, different also from the feelings most men have for their wives. He struggles to describe this transcendent love, which she eventually spurns. He says it is for him, or he wishes it to be, an eternal sacred, spiritual bond which he also describes in one
poem as being like the love a father feels for his
“sons and sons-in law” (or so it reads in one
translation – in another I’ve seen, it reads “sons and daughters”).

The poems are said to be the first lyric poems by a male poet from the ancient world addressing the theme of love in such an immediate, in-depth and recognisable way. The words are simple generally, though there are also lots of historical and cultural references, particularly to the Greek myths, though the Latin experts say the poems are also structurally complex and carefully crated works of art. Alas, much of the sense of that is lost in translation.

  102. Come on Bird, impersonating Jc’s wife is not exactly the honourable means of conducting a dispute…

YOU ARE TAKING YOUR BIAS TOWARDS BANK COMMUNISM TO RIDICULOUS LENGTHS. THIS FELLOW IS DESPICABLE. HE THINKS THAT MUGABE AND STEVE JOBS ARE EQUIVALENT. BOTH GO-GETTERS. SELF-STARTERS. HARD WORK PAYS OFF AND WE OUGHT BE ENVIOUS OF NEITHER. I NOTE THAT YOUR LATEST POST ON ONE OF YOUR ANONYMOUS BLOGS IS ALL IN FAVOUR OF MALARIA HOLOCAUST DENIAL. BLACK PEOPLE HAVE A RIGHT TO LIVE ALSO THR. WHAT IS IT THAT YOU HAVE AGAINST BLACK PEOPLE?

  103. What the missus says is correct.

JC’s many a time kicked me down the stairs. He laughs when I yelp with pain from his savage blows and he really enjoyed the time when he broke my leg.

Funny thing is when I’m injured is when Joe Cambria is most likely to get support from the other dogs in the neighbourhood who then pounce on and peck at or try to kill me. Funny old world sometimes.

But Pam has looked after cared for me, just like a real decent woman would.

  104. Professor Zilhão said: “This is the first secure evidence that, some 50,000 years ago — ten millennia before modern humans are first recorded in Europe — the behaviour of Neanderthals was symbolically organised.”

    http://www.newscientist.com/blogs/shortsharpscience/2010/01/why-is-neanderthal-still-a-byw.html

  105. “However IQ and income are pretty highly correlated. Face facts a numb nut is not going to ever be the CEO of Macquarie bank or Goldman Sachs. ”

Well we know thats not true. Hank Paulson is clearly an idiot. Incredible. Stupid wop could have chosen General Electric to make his argument. Instead he chose a bunch of welfare recipients.

I’d like to see that correlation. I’m supposing Cambria is making it up. Or rather its probably a bit outdated. At the moment truly stupid people like Cambria appear to be upwardly mobile.

  106. the corporate world is growing back its balls

    http://www.smh.com.au/technology/technology-news/google-sees-red-over-web-censors-20100113-m723.html?autostart=1

Google, the world’s biggest technology company, said yesterday it would no longer co-operate with Chinese censors, even if that meant it could no longer do business in its greatest potential growth market.

The move was led by founder Sergei Brin, a refugee from Communist Russia, in response to Beijing’s relentless tightening of censorship and a recent cyber attack against the Gmail accounts of human rights activists.

Australia’s big mining companies, for example, are refusing to negotiate iron ore contracts in China this year because of Chinese security agency intrusions at Rio Tinto, which culminated in the arrest of one of the company’s executives, Stern Hu.

An American company, one of the world’s largest, has forbidden its employees from carrying communication equipment into the country, including laptops and mobile phones, because of security concerns.

Visiting diplomats are told that their mobile phones are not safe from eavesdropping even when they are turned off, and even when the battery is removed.

  107. In a jaw-dropping moment, after that, Taitz accused Smith of forgery. Not that the charge is untrue.

THEN WHY IS THIS A JAW-DROPPING MOMENT? JAW-DROPPING ONLY FOR THE LUNATICS. THATS THE SUM TOTAL OF YOUR ARGUMENT. IN OTHER WORDS NO ARGUMENT AT ALL. COME BACK WHEN YOU FIND EVIDENCE THAT THIS HOMOSEXUAL MUSLIM ISN’T A USURPER.

  108. YOU HAVE NO SUCH EVIDENCE. YOU ARE LYING. BARRY HAS REFUSED POINT BLANK TO PRESENT ANY SUCH EVIDENCE. WHICH OBVIOUSLY MEANS HE DOES NOT HAVE IT.

  109. NOT TOO SOUND AT LOGIC ARE YOU? THE OBAMA CAMP HAS ALWAYS ONLY GIVEN US FAKE DOCUMENTS. NEVER GENUINE DOCUMENTS. THIS IS EVIDENCE AGAINST THE OBAMA CAMP AND NOT IN FAVOUR OF THEM. BUT YOU ARE SUCH A BLOCKHEAD YOU’VE MESSED THAT ONE UP TOO.

  110. We have raised a generation of people to stupid too be able to come up with valid arguments or evidence for their beliefs. This reminds me of when Cambria wrote a thread in favour of the Paulson bailout for thoughts on selling out freedom. Nowhere could you find in this essay valid reasoning in favour of the Paulson version of the bailout. Nor has he been able to muster a valid argument in favour since.

  111. graeme I’ve been goading you to write about our geopolitical future for 2 days now and you’re still stuck at sasquatches and goldman sachs.

let’s see some new content, man

SCROLL UP. THERE IS SOME STUFF TANGENTIALLY RELATED TO GEOPOLITICS. HOW ABOUT THOSE MUSINGS ON WHAT CONSTITUTES AND DOES NOT CONSTITUTE SOUND DIPLOMACY?

  112. Here is the Cambria idiocy right here. The fellow is a moron. He says that either we buy the bankers bad bets and ripoff “assets” or the world goes into depression. Totally ridiculous. Had all these institutions gone belly up and Paulson balance the budget, then a great deal of debt would have been wiped out. The idea was simply to flush cash into the system, put up a reserve asset ratio so this cash wouldn’t be inflationary, and cut as much spending as possible.

Paulson, being an idiot, had all these stimulus packages, and then wanted to actually subsidise the banks where he could. By going with the policies that Cambria advocated the Americans are at least 11 trillion further in the hole and the money that would have been spent on employing people is going into banker bonuses and a continuation of the same incompetent banker policies.

    http://blog.libertarian.org.au/2008/09/21/sukritron-paul-911-truthers-and-currencyfractional-reserve-conspiracies/

Note Cambria’s draft heading. He was trying to use the conspiracy accusation trump card. The fellow is such a fuckwit that he thinks that a winning argument in logic is to accuse the other fellow of claiming a conspiracy is on. This when the banks stole all their money, using bribes, right there in the public glare. We are dealing with an incredible moron when it comes to Cambria.

“Although Ron Paul offers some good ideas, I disagree with the Paulite attempts to blame the Federal Reserve for many of the financial problems of the world. The Fed is a fine institution. ”

Who cares what this idiot things? He doesn’t say why he disagrees, so this is Cambria being an idiot in support of socialist banking. In fact it was Fed incompetence that lead to the crisis. Incompetence and Fed enrichment of banks.

“This is a trade off. Either the government buys the toxic waste sitting on the bank balance sheets and start lending again or the US and possibly the world goes into depression.”

The idiotic Cambria view of economics. In Cambria’s view sending good money after bad saves the economy. Whereas liquidating toxic assets harms the economy.

  113. Continuing evidence of the stupidity of Cambria:

“News that will send bird bananas, or even more so.

Obama says he’ll impose an tax on financial transaction. The banks say will move those activities that attract the most tax to another center.

UK government imposed a bonus tax. The banks are even now contemplating moving their operations to Europe where there won’t be any taxes imposed.”

The horror. Seriously why would I get uptight about this? Stupid wop.

  114. Goldman rips off people all around the world with securitisation of loans, they take the profits, but when they are about to go out of business, Cambria, being a moron, reckons they ought to have been bailed out.

  115. Bird:

Would you prefer there were no recapitalizations around the world by companies that needed to replenish their capital needs?

RECAPITALIZATONS. WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY THIS DOPEY? I’D OBVIOUSLY PREFER THAT THE BANKS WEREN’T RECAPITALIZED. BUT THAT I WAS. I DON’T EVEN THINK YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT. STEALING MONEY OFF THE TAXPAYER AND GIVING IT TO THE BANKS IS RECAPITALIZING THE BANKS. ITS ALSO STEALING. SO OBVIOUSLY I’D PREFER IT DIDN’T HAPPEN. I’M NOT IN FAVOUR OF STEALING. BY RECAPITALIZATION DO YOU IN FACT MEAN STEALING? I’M AGAINST STEALING. WHY ARE YOU FOR IT? CALLING STEALING RECAPITALIZATION DOESN’T MAKE IT NOT STEALING. IF YOU THINK THAT RECAPITALIZATION IS DIFFERENT FROM STEALING HOW ABOUT YOU SPELL OUT WHAT YOU MEAN (STUPID FUCKING WOP).

  116. I’ll tell you what I’d like. I’d like to be able to recapitalize myself and the females of my choice. At the taxpayers expense and the expense of the people who hold AUD balances.

Would that make me a go-getter like Steve Jobs?

You are not very bright are you Cambria? No you are not.

  117. What an idiot Cambria is. So lost in his own jargon he doesn’t have a fucking clue what he is talking about.

  118. What do you reckon Philomena? You feel like being recapitalized? How about a Tarp program for you. Any old clothes you don’t want any more we’ll get the treasury to buy them at ten thousand dollars apiece.

This stupid wop doesn’t seem to understand that if some coterie can be recapitalized and others cannot that undermines the rule of law, and is not compatible with a capitalist system. Its compatible only with cronyism and eventually dictatorship.

Have I answered your question comprehensively enough you stupid bank-communist prick Cambria?

  119. “Would you prefer there were no recapitalizations around the world by companies that needed to replenish their capital needs?”

What a complete prick. Here is this idiot pretending to be a libertarian. But instead he comes out in favour of bigshot crony welfarism.

  120. IF YOU DISAPPEARED BECAUSE OF A CRISIS TO DO WITH REALISING YOUR EXISTENTIAL USELESSNESS WHY DID YOU COME BACK? USUALLY I AM HAPPY FOR ALMOST ANY COMMENT. BUT THE UTTER POINTLESSNESS OF YOUR LAST POST DOESN’T MAKE MY EASYGOING CUTOFF.

  121. “Would you prefer there were no recapitalizations around the world by companies that needed to replenish their capital needs”

Spoken like a true blood-sucking instrumentalist vampire. Never was a truer word spoken by a blood-engorged leech (if one could).

JC thinks even I need to recapitalise him because without him, he spits, I don’t deserve to live. He calls me parasite, welfare queen, commie.

But fact is Mr Bird, I had a lovely and happy home as a pup before he bought me where kind young women fed and cuddled me. All of a sudden JC loomed and I was thrown into a nightmare of a household where I’m kicked and screamed at by JC from dawn to dusk.

The only saving grace is that sometimes I get patted by the missus and can escape for a while to play outside, sniff the air and remember what the good life used to be like.

  122. Note that if Cambria had a grasp on even the technical side of what he was talking about he would be able to explain himself. Just why the fuck would you want to shower banks with wealth?

Is he saying that showering banks with wealth might allow them to lend to business? So they steal off us then lend back to us, and we are supposed to be grateful for this?

  123. “let’s see some new content, man”.

This Jason Soon character has a hide and a half. What a parasite. And, typically, he’s got a god complex, yeah?

He contributes nothing to this blog, routinely abuses its owner, and has a deadly dull blog of his own which seems to consist of nothing but extensive quotes from other people’s work!?

Nothing much going on up top there, Mr Bird.

  124. Puppy love Mr Bird.

  125. I notice that Cambria’s argument in favour of showering resources on the banks appears to be a little thin. Consisting of asking one dumb fucking question.

Another time I tried to get him to justify it and his answer was “It might work” whatever “work” means. It did work. It gave all the bankers fat bonuses and threw millions of others out of work. Whereas not stealing for the banks would have put tens of thousands of bankers out of work, and lead to the employment of millions of others.

So the stupid wop is a little light on justification for all this stealing.

  126. Any sane person today hates the banks, Graeme.

JC’s got zero credibility and worse, he’s a crashing motor-mouth bore. It’s actually a nervous tic or something. Awful to be around or within earshot of such humans.

How was your day, Mr Bird?

  127. Not bad. Have to work soon.

  128. I would have given you a burl on the dog and bone but reckoned you’d’ve hit the sack for 40 winks if not flaked out, flat chat. I’ve been a complete wannabe bludger and write-off last few days and feel abso-bloody-lutely bushwacked.

Not to worry, I’ll come good and get my arse into gear tomorrow and get cracking on some hard yakka. Ridgey didge. I’m gonna crash soon but looking forward to having a good chin wag with you dead cert, when I’m less zonked. You’re definitely a corker and a cobber and I
    am rapt, fair dinkum, matey.

  129. Ha Ha. Right. Not exactly your usual argot.

I’m still waiting for some financial sophistication from Cambria. The banks get the government to shower resources on the banks ….. and this helps the US taxpayer ………. In what way.

This fellow is a deadbeat. He ought to be down at the centrelink looking to unload containers.

  130. Anyway Graeme I’m interested in where this interest in Bigfoot comes from. You do realize he’s entirely fictional don;t you?

    What am I saying?

SOUNDS LIKE YOU KNOW MORE ABOUT IT THEN I DO. WHAT MAKES YOU THINK THIS? IS THERE A BIG FAT CONSPIRACY OF RICH GUYS MAKING THOUSANDS OF SOPHISTICATED FOOTPRINTS EVERY YEAR, AND SOME OF THEM WITH DERMIL RIDGES? THATS A PRETTY BIG CONSPIRACY THEORY. TO TELL YOU THE TRUTH I DON’T KNOW FOR SURE. BUT ITS A PRETTY ODD THING TO HAVE ALL THIS EVIDENCE AND NO ANIMAL.

    • Seriously dude. Tell me more about how it is you know the Sasquatch is fictional? You might be right. But how do you know this? What is your reasoning here? You must have some sort of reasoning behind this belief.

  131. Do you think the left can ever be sold on phasing out fractional reserve Philomena?

Alice seemed to get the idea that there ought to be a reserve asset ratio. Thats a positive sign. I cannot see why any of them would want to support this special privilege. THR is particularly soft-headed on this matter.

  132. Here is what a man in a suit looks like:

  133. Compare that to Patty. Remembering that the film was also backed up with footprints.

  134. I don’t really know if a bipedal animal of 700 pounds would be in the mood for running a great deal. I look at this film and to me it looks like a combination of a really smooth walk, and very heavy weight.

Bob, who confessed to being in the suit, got the walk right. But unfortunately his arms, legs and torso are the wrong size for it. So if its a fake its an immensely sophisticated one.

  135. Mr B

Observe the Dopey Wop Cambria’s hero Blankfein lording it up over us mere mortals.

Good lord how I despise that Dago Twit.

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/01/13/AR2010011304104.html?hpid=opinionsbox1

  136. Macaroni Munching Moron

  137. Its like a flat out push to destroy the US.

How cool would it have been if they had just let these bludgers fail. Here you have all these useless activities being funded, and simply by letting them fail you would have been rid of these clowns. But oh no. The Americans have to put up with these leeches even although the market spoke and wanted them wiped out.

  138. Graeme, Philomena is not an economist but she asked me to tell you she’s guided and influenced on such matters by Alice on Quiggin whom she dearly loves.

  139. I’ll have to read more of what Alice says then.

  140. I don’t really know if a bipedal animal of 700 pounds would be in the mood for running a great deal. I look at this film and to me it looks like a combination of a really smooth walk, and very heavy weight.

Are you describing your own ‘fitness’ regime here?

  141. Mr Bird, Joe has started dressing up again as a Giant Bird parading round the house in nothing but grey tights and a feathered and beaked mask screeching like a cockie and trying to ride on the back of our poor dog while having long gibbering “conversations” with an imaginary friend called BirdLab.

I thus fear JC’s mental state is deteriorating rapidly. JC simply doesn’t have the fortitude or cognitive ability to pull himself together. And, Mr Bird, I blush to mention this, but he has become even more insanely jealous about our growing friendship.

  142. My last property manager. A big girl. She said to me “I don’t do uphill.” I don’t know whether 700 pound bipedal animals are really into running over sharp rocks and things. Note the knees never straighten. Its this attention to detail that impresses me.

So far I’ve heard no stories about people being busted creating footprints, wherein they have the ability to create also dermil ridges and healed scar tissue. Also where the toes vary in width with each step and so forth.

The sort of fakery that is delivering very high quality prints would be an expensive hassle rather than a harmless lark. So there is good evidence either way on this. But if more progress isn’t made now that we have night vision goggles, and night vision cameras, then the situation will swing back in favour of the Sasquatches non-existence I suppose.

So I would expect them to find even better evidence in the near future. Six years before “Patti” was captured on film another plaster mold was made of a Sasquatch footprint. And this one matches up with Patti six years after. Not the same species. Rather the same female.

Now that we know that we co-existed with both Erectus and Neanderthal, and did not simply morph from them to us, then the mystery is where did the other two go? Why did they become extinct?

Its more logical to think we drove them Bush rather than exterminated every last one of them. See Lloyd Pye’s lecture. Very interesting stuff.

  143. check this out Graeme. more fodder for your theories

    http://io9.com/5441889/advanced-imaging-reveals-a-computer-1500-years-ahead-of-its-time

X-rays and advanced photography have uncovered the true complexity of the mysterious Antikythera mechanism, a device so astonishing that its discovery is like finding a functional Buick in medieval Europe.

In 1900, some divers found the wreck of a Roman vessel off the Greek island of Antikythera. Among the other treasures remanded to the Greek government was an unassuming corroded lump. Some time later, the lump fell apart, revealing a damaged machine of unknown purpose, with some large gears and many smaller cogs, plus a few engraved words in Greek. Early studies suggested it was some type of astronomical time-keeping device – researcher Derek J. de Solla Price laid the groundwork by establishing initial tooth counts and suggesting that the device followed the Metonic cycle, a 235-month pattern commonly used to predict eclipses in the ancient world
The full function and beauty of the Antikythera device remained hidden until recent studies subjected it to more advanced imaging techniques. First, it was photographed using a technique that exposed the surfaces to varying lighting patterns. This created different levels of contrast that allowed the researchers to read far more of the inscribed Greek text than was previously possible. Then, x-ray imaging was used to create full 3-D computer models of the mechanism, which revealed for the first time some of the more complex and detailed gear interactions. The Greek National Archaeological Museum’s discovery of some boxes filled with 82 additional mechanism fragments added new information as well.

The findings, published in Nature, are probably best described as “mind blowing.” Devices with this level of complexity were not seen again for almost 1,500 years, and the Antikythera mechanism’s compactness actually bests the later designs. Probably built around 150 B.C., the Antikythera mechanism can perform a number of functions just by turning a crank on the side

  144. Right. You see its a hand-me-down from after the Quarternary extinction. Its not like a new invention. It would be like a crude mechanical facsimile of something that they were capable of prior to the extinction event. There is a lot of gear like that.

And you see this is why we were able to co-exist with these other critters for so long and not kill them off. Because we were a stridently coastal species I believe. The problem with being that way is that when tragic events wipe out half the inlander Erectus crowd, they are going to wipe out nine-tenths of the humans.

I think I heard Ian Plimer say that people would settle the east coast and every five hundred years or so they’d all get wiped out. So we stayed off-camera in our evolution. And were getting continually wiped out all that time. But finally we built up the numbers and decisively sent the others Bush I would now suggest.

How can we solve this problem. To get beyond our current level of technology and economic performance we need to have water transport. But to rely on the sea means eventually being wiped out again.

I can only suggest a patient, low-cost, but persistent plan to bring canals inland into Australia. Sure it may take a several thousand years to do the job cheaply. But we do want to think about the long-run.

  145. hey graeme

was maggie thatcher a commie co2 bedwetter?

    http://www.margaretthatcher.org/speeches/displaydocument.asp?docid=108237

    • She was trying to push nuclear and didn’t want to be dependent on the coal unions. So she looked around for any supporting reasons no matter how tenuous. No-one took any of this gear seriously at the time. The global warming business was pulled out of the science crypt. She could not have had any idea that this business could metastisize into a full-blown religion. These days they give us a timeline, of the thin line of people who picked up this idea from Arrenhius on. But it was a dead idea that no-one bought into, and no-one had any reason to buy into. She made a big mistake breathing life into this thing, but I cannot see how she was supposed to know. The Soviet Union was still around then. So there wasn’t the prospect of a new religion coming out of a clear blue sky. Once communism was dead then we ought to be waiting for it to come back in some other form. And it did so. One wing as radical Islam, another wing stayed underground until those Seattle protests, and then bloomed with full force with this global warming racket.

It isn’t the long unblemished chain of known science that you might think it to be. Carl Sagan dusted off these ideas to argue why Venus was so hot in some argument he had on the fly with Velikovsky.

Its not that its totally wrong. I see it as a misleading paradigm, but its not all wrong in its entirety. But the effects are grossly exaggerated.

For one thing we have solar wind. Not just radiation from the sun, but the solar wind of charged particles as well. So these people insist on lying and saying that this alleged warming effect makes up about 33 degrees the difference. A flat out lie. Since the streams of charged particles, both the solar wind and the cosmic rays, amount to the equivalent of electrical currents. Electrical energy that gets turned into thermal energy in the atmosphere (which you might entertain by analogy as a resistor).

Added to that form of electrical energy, we may be getting further electrical energy from the galaxy via Birkeland currents. Certainly the sun is receiving this form of energy and we are likely doing so as well though the importance of this energy source is not quantified.

On top of that heat source there is also the effect of warming the average temperature, that heat transport from the equator poll-wards has.

Through wind and oceanic currents. This improves the average temperature via Stefan-Boltzmanns law. So this 33 degrees is just a big fat lie. And the amount of this alleged effect is vastly smaller than that, making the difference that a change in CO2 will make correspondingly smaller, whether negative or positive.

What will definitely make a big difference though is an increase in air pressure.

  146. “Once communism was dead then we ought to be waiting for it to come back in some other form. And it did so. One wing as radical Islam, another wing stayed underground until those Seattle protests, and then bloomed with full force with this global warming racket.”

In accordance with Birds theory of referred pain, this constant resurfacing of harmful ideas is inevitable while we tolerate any unfairness or cronyism in our system. Ifsoever we put up with a version of capitalism that is tarnished and skewed we will have the anger bottling up and undermining us and we would deserve no less.

Look at the terrorists. Engineers so over-represented. Even more than the medical profession. Think of how an engineer might view our current form of capitalism with Palookas like Paulson worth 700 million for doing nothing good at all. And here are people who can build things, can make things. All that capital going to ponzi-scams when it could be going to building and making things.

A little bit of cronyism might seem like a luxury we can afford but it is something that only promotes fury, and it cannot be tolerated.

  147. With regards to the above. When talking about infrastructure, we have to divide infrastructure carefully into that part of the industry that can be realistically sorted into a competitive non-cronyist market under the principle that big business must come from small business success. And under a regime of clear rules that are known in advance making schmoozing with bureaucrats utterly redundant.

If there is some part of the deal that for now cannot be run in this manner it ought to stay socialist. Until such time as people are willing to do the hard yards to set up the legal framework such-that THAT-part of the industry can be non-cronyist too. It doesn’t matter if your crowd came up with a study that shows that the crony way of doing things is 20% more cost-effective or some other such bullshit-artistry. We need to wipe out every last vestige of cronyism as a higher priority before phasing out all vestiges of socialism on a longer time horizon.

Like for example. What those fiends Rothschilds and Merrill Lynch are getting the Queenslanders to do with their rail. This is an outrage.

  148. why keep heaping largesse on those bloody sandcrackers?

screw them. provide incentives to adopt nuclear and screw them. as Thatcher says, it’s no regrets policy to develop alternative energy sources

  149. The carbon tax throws largesse on the crackers. We want nuclear and coal-to-liquids tax free. That way the sandcrackers can learn to be productive or eat sand.

Time and again you’ve made this same mistake Jason. Are you going to make it AGAIN next month.

Lets make sure you’ve got it this time. The carbon tax is what will keep the largesse being heaped on the Arabs. Did you get it this time? Lets go again. Its the carbon tax which will make us dependent on the Arabs for energy. Humphreys particularly got this assbackwards. And Mankiw as well.

Mankiw made the correct argument that there was these negative externalities to our demand for Arab oil. Then the stupid git transferred this to carbon more generally.

Now have you got it right THIS TIME. Or will you fuck it up again? Do we need to go over this yet again? Carbon tax will undermine our ability to flush the Arabs out of the financial air. You have things totally wrong and back to front. If this is your concern its gasoline tax that you are after. This is so obvious that its an effrontery for you to be continuing this pretense otherwise. Clearly you have Mankiw and Humphreys buggering your earhole on this score.

  150. “The problem is that *too much* upsets the grid. You want power you can turn on and off fast to manage demands spikes. You just don’t want to have most of the grid this way.”

Nuclear and coal-to-liquids combination is good for this. Since you can take the heavy carbon (from trash, coal, shale oils and so forth) and turn some of it to synthetic diesel. But you can turn a bunch of it all the way to methane.

Methane turbines can be revved up and down with great speed. That way you have the nuclear turbine for the solid output, the methane for the spinning output, and the solid carbon gets turned to diesel.

  151. liquified coal… coal to liquids…

SO WHAT IS YOUR ARGUMENT YOU STUPID FUCKING WOP CUNT. YOU COME HERE, WITHOUT A FUCKING COHERENT ARGUMENT BECAUSE YOU ARE A FUCKING MORON. DON’T TELL ME YOU SUBSIDISED MORONS ARE SMART GUYS. BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT. YOU ARE AN IDIOT. ANYONE WHO SEES RUBIN, PAULSON AND THE LATEST ASSHOLE KNOWS THAT THE PEOPLE YOU LOOK UP TO ARE MORONIC RENT-SEEKERS, WHOSE ONLY TALENT LIES IN THEM BEING POLITICAL PACK-ANIMALS.

FUCKING HELL. YOU DON’T EVEN HAVE THE BEGINNINGS OF A CASE AGAINST LIQUIFIYING CARBON SOLIDS. YOU ARE A MORON. YOU ALWAYS WERE A MORON. YOU ARE GOOD FOR NOTHING. SMALL POTATOES. USELESS. PATHETIC.

SO LETS HAVE YOUR ARGUMENT AGAINST THE COMBINATION OF LIQUIFYING CARBON SOLIDS LINKED UP WITH NUCLEAR POWER.

YOU ARE A DUMB FUCKING WOP. DON’T ENTER INTO CONVERSATIONS AND ARGUMENTS THAT YOU JUST HAVE NO CAPACITY FOR. WHAT A FUCKING MORON YOU ARE.

JOSEPH CAMBRIA. A RENT-SEEKING WELFARE QUEEN. AND THE STUPIDEST MAN ON THE INTERNET.

  152. i thought the stupidest man on the internet was jimmy the spiv?

    how do I rate? smartest?

    • Spiv aint on the internet. And that was before the financial meltdown when Cambria took on a new level of stupid to try and support his homeys. Cambria did this because he’s a complete cunt. The market said that the bankers ought to be unemployed and that millions of new jobs ought to have been created. Thanks to the heist the incompetent and brain dead bankers all have bonuses, and millions of Americans are unemployed instead. The 11 trillion in red ink being taken out of funds that would have employed people.

    • By the way SOON. Have you finally, and this time for all time, got it sorted that the carbon tax ensures endless largesse for the Arab dictators? You seem to be continually getting this point wrong.

  153. Stupid Greasy Dago Wop Cambria should stick to cooking da spaghetti witta da nice-a gravy. Mamma mia.

  154. Mr B

  155. Graeme, corporate capital and organised crime go together like the burning of fossil fuels and air pollution.

The big banks are part of this association of partners active – among other things – in misappropriation of funds, racketeering, smuggling of illegal goods, especially drugs, illegal labour and refugees, counterfeiting, tax evasion, computer piracy, trafficking in stolen works of art and antiquities, protected species, human organs, arms, toxic waste, and nuclear products.

This all adds up to a vast shadowland signifying capitalism’s fundamental uncontrollability and therefore instability and therefore inability to overcome its crises of ecology and democracy.

The people who rise to the top of the big corporations and the banks often on a personal level become personifications of the institutional forces they represent and draw huge salaries and benefits from. To suceed or be considered for hiring at that level you need to have a hard, cold, calculating mentality and a hefty dose of the will to power.

A psychological tendency towards grandiosity, personal invulnerability and “optimistic denialism” comes into play which tends to insulate such individuals from the consequences of their actions except as they affect the bottom line: private profit.

    • Right. But a lot of the impetus for much of the above comes from interventionism. And some of the impetus comes from spin-off consequences of fractional reserve, currency debasement, and high debt levels. I don’t quite know how things would pan out if we removed these aggravating factors. Its not that they necessarily would all become angelic again. But rather some of the corrupting influences would not be there. Part of my program would be to make ltd liability a 100% equity financed proposition. If that still wasn’t enough one could set a time limit on the life of the artificial entity and when that limit was drawing near the entity would have to start selling its assets to sole traders.

  156. Birdie, I love it that you’re fascinated with the stuff of your very thoughtful and interesting post.

The consensus among palaeontologists and archaeologists is that prior to about 60,000-40,000 years ago, archaic homo sapiens and homo neanderthalensis did not show symbolic behaviour and had a fairly limited capacity to plan ahead.

Steven Mitchen a British archaeologist reckons before homo erectus the early human ancestral mind consisted of three entities: a technical intelligence (producing stone tools), a natural history intelligence (land, animals, plants) and a social intelligence (skills needed to live in groups). Not so much changed, eh?

At the level of homo habilis there’s no evidence that social intelligence was integrated with the other two. With the appearance of homo erectus with its increased brain size the earliest true (symmetrical) hand axes appeared abruptly and uniformly in the archaeological record in Africa, Asia, Europe and parts of Asia. V. Gordon Childe went so far as to say that these standardised tools were “a fossil idea” requiring a certain capacity for abstract thought.

Others went further saying these hand tools showed the presence of the mental structure to make basic mathematical transformations without the benefit of writing or measuring tools. In Europe during the Upper Palaeolithic a whole range of tools appeared including the development of blades which could be turned into needles, etc. Homo erectus may also have invented cooking (smaller gut and teeth) though many sites in Siberia have been dated to at least 200,000 years ago and their very existence raises the question of fire and clothing. The environment was so harsh its thought man could not have lived there without sewn clothing.

And some palaeontologists believe the emergence of complicated tool making is in brain terms analogous to speech and the two activities emerged at the same time.

  157. Get fuckled.

  158. I dig big time your vilification of Joe Cambria, Mr B. It is richly deserved. Not only is he a very stupid and habitually angry man, not only is he violently abusive to his wife and children, he is extremely cruel to animals.

Dog historians have told me that JC’s cruelty to animals including dogs began when he was about 8 or 9. He used to beat them with a stick and kick them down the stairs and many a one had to be put down such were their injuries deliberately caused by JC.

As a teenager he also used to tie firecrackers to cats’ tails and then light them and even though I’m a dog I’m a cat person too because I grew up with cats in the animal home where I was born. And that hurts.

And I wince when I see him crushing in his bare fist the beautiful blue butterflies that sometimes fly into the garden, typically while he is screaming down the phone at some “moron” or other.

  159. The missus herself told me that JC said he lasted less than an hour at kindie. He walked up to one little girl and floored her flat as a mat with a backhand stroke. He polished off two harmless boys and then felled with a forehand swing the son of a mother who’d just brought him into the room. He was a juggernaut, or so he boasted.

The staff got on the phone and his poor mother had to collect him never to return.

In primary school he’d hit knees with a hammer, he’d fly off the handle if his slightest wish was blocked, he’d take a flyer at random passing faces in the street. Even at 11, teachers reported he had a craving, even a deep need for victims and to dominate smaller people and that only by being kept on his own could he be prevented from doing damage. He threw a neighbour’s son at a glass door once. In another kid’s house he pushed a boy against a heater.

JC is as violent as a kill-crazy volcano. Bashing seems to give him some temporary relief.

He’s often seen shaking his fist at the sky as if to clobber the clouds that he reckons only exist to piss on him.

  160. You don’t want to be a debt defaulter to JC. One had his tongue cut out. I hardly have the stomach to repeat what he did to the others.

  161. “What’s a fuckle?”

Ask the Idiot Dago. He can tell you.

In fact, he’ll give you a demonstration.

  162. Wow. A veritable crescendo of creepy, puerile and misogynist comments from JC/BirdLab. The missus’s obviously tipped Joe Cambria over into full-blown madness.

    ROTFLMAO!

  163. The American Federal Reserve made a 52 billion dollar profit this year I just heard. They spend massive amounts on rubbish, don’t do anything productive, go out of their way to subsidise banks, but they can still make these big profits. Once you understand that this is a counterfeiting racket, then it all makes sense. If one were in denial about this, there would be no way to reconcile those sorts of earnings.

  164. Jew Bastards

I’LL LEAVE THAT COMMENT IN. I SUSPECT YOU HAVE AN ALTERIOR MOTIVE HERE OF MAKING ME LOOK BAD BY ASSOCIATION. NEVERLESS AS RON YOU SHOW COMIC SKILLS WHICH ADD TO THIS BLOG. NORMALLY SPEAKING I’D EDIT OUT ANTI-SEMITIC COMMENTS EVEN WHEN ITS A JOKE, EXCEPT FOR ONE INFAMOUS THREAD WHICH PROBABLY MEANS THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE WHO I THINK WELL OF PROBABLY AREN’T TALKING TO ME AGAIN THIS HALF CENTURY.

BUT I THINK ITS IMPORTANT THAT I LEAVE SOME OF THIS IN AS A REMINDER:

IF WE ALLOW CRONYISM, AND CORRUPT BANKING PRACTICES, THEN SUCCESSFUL MINORITIES ARE LIKELY TO TAKE THE HEAT.

AND IT WON’T JUST BE PEOPLE WHO ARE CULPABLE INSOFAR AS CRONYISM AND CORRUPT BANKING PRACTICES ARE CONCERNED. INDUSTRIOUS, FRUGAL AND WEALTH-CREATING SMALL BUSINESSMEN WILL TAKE THE HEAT FOR THE SINS OF THE INDOLENT PYRAMID-RACKETEER FEW. AND NOT ONLY THAT.THEIR WOMEN AND KIDS WILL TEND TO GET BLAMED.

YOU WOULD BE SURPRISED AT HOW PERSUASIVE THE CONSPIRACY-THEORIST MINORITY-BLAMER CAN BE WHEN PEOPLE ARE FEELING LIKE THEY’VE BEEN BURNT OR DUDDED IN SOME WAY OR ANOTHER. ITS VERY HARD NOT TO CONCEDE HIM 5% OF THAT ARGUMENT. THEN THAT LITTLE BIT OF A CONCESSION, MADE BY VERY MANY PEOPLE WILL HAVE, IN PRACTICE, A SNOWBALLING EFFECT, WHEN PEOPLE ARE HURTING, AND IF THEY FEEL BAD ABOUT NOT BEING ABLE TO LOOK OUT FOR THEIR FAMILIES. JEWISH PEOPLE AND ETHNIC CHINESE ARE HARDLY OUT OF THE WOODS FROM BEING TARGETED. NOT BY A LONG SHOT. LEST WE FORGET.

RIGHT NOW IN MELBOURNE YOUNG PEOPLE OF INDIAN DESCENT ARE BEING TARGETED. IS ANYONE DOING ANYTHING SERIOUS TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM? IS ANYONE SUGGESTING IT MIGHT BE A REGIME-CO-ORDINATED PROBLEM?

    NO.

TOO STUPID AND LAX TO EVEN CHECK THE PROPOSITION OF REGIME ACTION OUT. TOO MUCH TOADYING TO THE CONSPIRATOR SIDE OF POLITICS NOT TO SHAKE OFF THE EMBARRASSMENT OF THINKING THAT CONSPIRACIES MAY BE PRESENT.

IN TERMS OF THE ARGUMENT I’M MAKING, WHAT I’M SAYING IS THAT THE INDIANS ARE BEING TARGETED AND WE AREN’T DOING SQUAT ABOUT IT. THOUGH INDIA IS OUR NATURAL ALLY, THE LARGEST DEMOCRACY IN THE WORLD, HELPED US THROUGH WORLD WAR II, SPEAK THE SAME LANGUAGE AS US, WILL BE THE MOST POPULOUS NATION IN THE WORLD, ARE OUR GOOD GOOD FRIENDS, AND SHARE A COMMON BORDER WITH OUR GREATEST STRATEGIC THREAT.

IF ALL THIS IS THE CASE AND WE CANNOT STOP THIS PERSECUTION OF MELBOURNE PEOPLE OF INDIAN DESCENT COLD!!!!!!!!!! USING ALL OF OUR INTELLIGENCE RESOURCES AND WHATEVER BUDGET IT TAKES …….

… IF WE CANNOT TO THAT TO KEEP ONSIDE WITH OUR GOOD GOOD FRIENDS, THE INDIANS ……. THEN WHO WILL STICK UP FOR THE JEWS AND THE ETHNIC CHINESE NEXT TIME THE REFERRED PAIN FROM CRONYISM AND PRIVATION, LEADS TO A RISE IN ANIMUS AGAINST THESE PEOPLE?

WE ALL DODGED A BULLET VERY RECENTLY. THERE WAS THIS MASSIVE UPSWING OF ANTI-SEMITISM NOT LONG AGO. THANK GOODNESS IT WAS ONLY ON THE SIDE OF THE CHATTERING LEFTIST CLASSES. HAD THE ANTI-SEMITISM WELLED UP ON INTELLECTUAL RIGHT, AND WITH THE HOI POLOI …… COINCIDENTALLY, AT THE SAME TIME AS IT BURSTING FORTH ON THE LEFT, THEN WE COULD HAVE SEEN SOME REAL NASTINESS.

  165. “THR – The state began when a a place where people met to trade goods was surrounded by a wall to allow that trade to continue unencumbered by raiding parties who had little to trade and/or couldn’t be bothered. Someone had to build the wall. Someone had to guard it. That costs. Hence the state.
    .
Things haven’t changed in essence just in volume and complexity.

    Adrien
    January 16, 2010 at 5:18 pm”

Wrong wrong wrong. The state IS the raiding party. The State is not the protection from the raiding party. The state is the raiding party itself.

  166. Your comment is awaiting moderation.

What do you guys reckon? Its really rather good isn’t it?

“Determining the right balance between the public and private sectors in a mixed economy does not require any radical innovations in economic thinking.”

I don’t know about that though. Thats where I would differ. I think we really do need to knuckle down and start looking at these problems from many different angles. I think we need an whole new language. A language of “trans-spatial” goods and services. A whole new way of thinking about property rights, that are specifically not freehold! property rights. Property rights that are strong and reliable but not freehold. I think we need to look at the justification and proper place of separate legal entities. We may need to look at private eminent domain at premium. Which hopefully would almost never be triggered, but would enable serious private planning of potential construction.

I think we need to bring back “market socialism” as a possibility for some components of infrastructure, in the medium term. While market socialism is clearly a failed idea for the economy entire, I think it is very appropriate for some aspects of infrastructure.

I think the whole deal needs a comprehensive rethink.

  167. “Of course the problem with being a coastal species is that great natural disasters will tend to wipe out your numbers from time to time.”

Were we an exclusively or even mainly coastal species originally? Don’t think this is considered the case. In the Paleolithic era there were no settled concentrations of human habitation so rising sea levels or catastrophic inundations were unlikely to wipe out entire populations or human species.

And evidence of the earliest human settlements e.g.. in South-East Asia and the Mediterranean, comes not from the coasts, or the plains, but the mountains. Geography played a role here The coasts were marshy and edged by often nasty species-ridden mangroves and river deltas made an unstable, often stagnant, and flood and malaria-prone environment for hunter gatherers. Resources in the mountains were more variously distributed and it was a safer and better place to be.

I reckon homo sapiens eventually either interbred with or killed off either directly or indirectly (or a combination of both) the earlier species.

  168. The latest evidence suggests modern humans left Africa twice, first around 90,000 yrs ago thru Sinai into the Levant, an exodus which petered out. The 2nd exodus occurred about 45,000 yrs later along a route across the mouth of the Red Sea in Ethiopia with humans reaching the Middle East and Europe via the valleys of Mesopotamia and SE Asia by ‘beachcombing’ along the coasts.

  169. “Were we an exclusively or even mainly coastal species originally? Don’t think this is considered the case.”

Its very hard to say. But the fossil record would generally only be the record of inlanders. So the story of our development could be biased that way.

I think we were mostly coastal. Since I don’t think we could have evolved the way we did otherwise.

  170. Graeme, look at the flood myth record and the geological level. There is no geo evidence of a great world flood let alone one that destroyed most of the world’s population or stayed for a long time or topped mountains. There is evidence of floods that destroyed coastal settlements on flat continental shelves but not civilisations or entire populations. All around the world there are flood myths from every continent with possible exception of Africa.

In Mesopotamia the Tigris & Euphrates regularly flooded and were locally destructive but not on a civilisation destroying level.

  171. To the extent that people did live on the coasts, post-glacial sea level rises and dispersal of coastal communities would have (and we know this) forced them further inland, back to the mountains or uplands, or to sea in search of other places where the land was high above sea level. Some communities of south-east Asia we know lived wholly or partly in boats. Thus locally developed skills and culture spread.

Animal domestication first took place in the hilly mountainous region where today’s Turkey, Iran and Iraq meet. Why? Perhaps because such a region with a variety of altitudes and therefore species would have produced the greatest range of species and the greatest variation of individuals within species. Such an environment would have been the most likely to have produced smaller wild animal types more amenable to control.

There is general agreement among palaeobiologists that domestication was invented only once and then spread to Western Europe and India.

  172. My main point is that if we were predominantly coastal, and if these coastal communities were wiped out, not merely through a rise in sea level, but through such a rise in conjunction with catastrophes, including tsunamis, well the evidential record would be skewed. It would contain almost no record of the societies that lived before the catastrophe.

Supposing Lake Agassiz breaking, instead of being a trickle rising slowly to a great river, happened all at once in an instantaneous deluge. The societies placed underwater would be lost forever without much of a trace. The massive depopulation would not be recorded. The historical record would be that of the inlanders.

Take for example that bottleneck after Toba. Our population allegedly whittled way down. Yet no generalised extinction event. It would be easier to understand how this could happen if part of the problem was coastal catastrophe.

There is evidence for this sort of thing. But its pretty sparse. But thats what you would expect. The event can wipe out the evidence for itself.

We have what looks like the remnants of lost underwater cities. But this sort of thing is ignored. And not integrated with the mainstream story. If the cities had slowly sunken and not been wiped out, then we ought to know about them. We ought to know their names. They ought to be part of the historical record. We ought to be able to say a lot about them.

The human race forgetting about these things would seem to suggest that those who ought to have borne witness to the cities slow sinking were actually wiped out, since there was no slow sinking, rather a catastrophe which took them all at once.

I think we have to always consider these potential biases in the record. We also have to integrate into the record these outstanding mysteries. Like the pyramids for example. Which could not have been built by the pharoahs, simply with slave labour, in accordance to the myth which has been built up.

  173. Actually this was the recording of Zechariah Sitchen that I was after:

  174. http://www.spiritofmaat.com/announce/oldcity.htm

Here is an example of what I’m talking about. The underwater cities don’t sit in well with the normal story of things.

I’m just watching this show about the genetic trail. They talk about the mystery of the aborigines getting to Australia. The mystery isn’t solved properly. They find an aboriginal marker in India. Its in Australia that sapiens show up first in the archeological record coming out of Africa. Which shows the principle of the coastal record being wiped.

They say that even in the ice age there was still 150 miles of open ocean to cross. Hence thats evidence right there that some level of coastal technology is biased against showing up in the record and that the record itself is somewhat skewed.

“Terje doesn’t doubt the scientific consensus on such matters as homonid evolution, the age of the universe, the existence of extrasolar planets, the chemistry of neurotransmission, the significance of the higgs boson or really anything else.
But somehow when it comes to climate science, the scientific consensus is suspect.”
Its not the scientific consensus that man is substantially warming the climate. This is a claim that is repeated. But it is not a true claim. As to all of these matters above fully half of them are suspect or have recently been revised.
    1. as homonid evolution (recently revised.)
    2. the age of the universe …… (wrong, baseless and utterly mindless theory.)
    3. the existence of extrasolar planets (good)
    4. the chemistry of neurotransmission (good)
    5. the significance of the higgs boson (totally speculative and really quite foolish).
The difference with the global warming business is not just that it is very bad science since there are other examples of very bad science. This very bad science seeks to impose costs on us for no reason at all.

  176. YOU FUCKING MORON CAMBRIA? WHAT DOES YOUR WOP SIXTH SENSE TELL YOU ABOUT THESE CRIMES? WHAT A FUCKING AMAZING THING IT MUST BE TO KNOW STUFF THAT THE REST OF US DON’T.

CAMBRIA. THE STUPIDEST MAN ON THE INTERNET. SOMETIMES ITS WHAT YOU THINK YOU KNOW FOR SURE THAT MAKES YOU AN IDIOT. THERE ARE SO MANY THINGS THAT CATALLAXIANS BELIEVE THEY KNOW FOR SURE THAT THEY CANNOT POSSIBLY KNOW.

  177. You stupid twats. Its absolutely imperative that this option is investigated.

You guys are so fucking dumb you know. You investigate stuff WHEN YOU DON’T KNOW FOR SURE.

Have you guys got that yet? Or do I need to explain this again? If you knew for a fact that a foreign power was involved you wouldn’t need to investigate. If you knew for a fact that they weren’t involved, because of magical powers that you dumb twats imagine you have, then you would not investigate.

Its because of the fact that you don’t know, that means you have to investigate.

Has anyone investigated this possibility or not?

Who is bashing the Indians? What religion or nationality is this? Is it Muslims bashing Indians? Who is doing this?

Do you know one way or another?

  178. Your stupidity just amazes me.

What can you fucking incurable dummies tell me about these crimes?

  179. AGAIN. IS IT MUSLIMS BASHING INDIANS? DO YOU KNOW ONE WAY OR ANOTHER? TRY AND THINK STRAIGHT FOR ONCE SOON.

WHAT WAS THE IMPLICATION OF YOUR QUESTION? THAT MUSLIMS NEVER RISK HURTING OTHER MUSLIMS? NOT TOO BRIGHT A SUGGESTION HEY SOON? IT WOULD BE NICE IF MUSLIMS DIDN’T HURT OTHER MUSLIMS. IT REALLY WOULD.

  180. Do you know one way or another anything about the profile of the people bashing the Indians? Yes or no?

  181. So you mean to say that your sixth sense on these matters is so incredibly powerful, that you can rule out regime action, and you cannot even give me a clue as to the profile of the people doing the bashing?

This is what you guys are telling me right?

    This stupidity is dangerous.

  182. Bird:

I agree we should investigate everything you suggest…..

RIGHT. SO WHY AREN’T YOU SAYING THAT I’M RIGHT AND YOU AND SOON WERE BEING IDIOTIC AND NAIVE?

  183. The point is that we ought not pretend we know things, through special wop sixth sense, and rather we ought to FIND OUT.

We don’t assume automatic knowledge as you faux-Popperians seem to think you are able to.

Clearly the implication of the Cambria admission is that he and SOON were wrong and that I’m right. That these things have to be checked out.

Now can you guys tell me anything about the persecutors of the Indians. Are they typically Muslim? Yes or no?

  184. Mr B

You and I, as usual, are in total agreement. You are correct that eventually there will be a Great Day of Reckoning for the Hebrew Race and when that day comes the Jews will have no one to blame but themselves.

But I don’t understand why you think the Jews are going around bashing Curry Munchers.

DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT IN AGREEMENT WITH RON HERE. BUT I’LL LEAVE HIS COMMENT IN ANYWAY.

  185. Always we find the same story with these dummies. They make out that its me being idiotic but it turns out it was them.

  186. I’m getting the picture here that you guys cannot tell me even the slightest thing about who is persecuting the Indian population in Melbourne.

  187. I’ve just wiped dozens of comments that don’t have an argument of any sort attached to them. Its a bit of a problem that we are importing a lot of unstable primitives that cannot think clearly or construct any sort of argument one way or another.

  188. Show some discipline here and try and make an actual argument. I don’t want to water down and make light of this serious problem by letting through a lot of posts that are devoid of argument.

So you guys don’t want to know anything about the persecutors ……… for what reason?

If you can make an argument of course I’ll let it through. Even if its a bad argument or one I don’t agree with.

  189. I can see you are bringing all of your powers of reason to this matter. Which means of course no reasoning at all. Just mob thinking.

  190. Seriously Jason and Cambria.

Any reasoning at all. Even bad reasoning. What is the argument here? Fundamentally Cambria has admitted that things ought to be checked out. So it appears you guys have made complete fools of yourselves as usual.

  191. A Jew, a Mussulman and a Hindoo walk into a bar….

  192. I certainly hope that the other two forced the Muslim to pay for the drinks. In remembrance of the dhimmitude their ancestors suffered under.

  193. Well, Mr B, I think it’s safe to say that the Jew didn’t wind up out of pocket on the transaction.

  194. I hope this isn’t a Melbourne joke. Where the two of them rifle through the humble Hindoo’s wallet.

  195. I think thats a pretty good joke. But a little coarse for this blog.

  196. It wasn’t a joke.

  197. How about some Italian gags. This logic-free-zone that is Cambria is a bit of an annoyance.

  198. How do you identify an Alitalia plane?

It’s the one with hair under the wings.

  199. what do you call a Negro who passes for white?

    A Sicilian

  200. Here’s an old dago joke:

    Giuseppe Cambria.

  201. Mr B

As you requested, I have been looking online for some funny Hindoo jokes.

    No luck so far.

    This is not very surprising.

In my experience, the Hindoo is a particularly humorless Breed. Sort of like a swarthy, unwashed Kraut and equally belligerent.

Now your common Dago or Eye-Tie, on the other hand, is inherently amusing.

Consider Mussolini, B., or Berlusconi, S., or Cambria, G.. All of them very very stupid but very very funny.

  202. “We also have to integrate into the record these outstanding mysteries. Like the pyramids for example. Which could not have been built by the pharaohs, simply with slave labour, in accordance to the myth which has been built up.”

The pyramids were built from about 3330BC when abstract mathematics, exact astronomical observation, the calendar, writing, the wheel, plough, agriculture, and more were in existence.

All these constituted a technological expansion of human power, concentrated and mobilised by temporal institutions, such as kingship, relying on physical resources, above all, massed human beings to build structures like the pyramids.

Historians of the city describe the Pyramid Age economy as “homo-mechanised”, i.e. we should view the earliest complex power machines as being composed not of wood or metal but perishable human parts, each having a specialised function in a larger mechanism under centralised human control.

All technologies and their products are projections of the human mind. Successful ideas put into practice or objectified are a product of natural selection, followed by unconscious and methodical selection. Stonehenge predated the Great Pyramid by about 500 years.

All the resources needed to move large slabs of stone or rock existed then as they did in the much more recent past of Easter Island.

There is no great mystery here or need to attribute human accomplishments to aliens. *We* are the intelligent designers.

It’s telling that economic right-wingers (capitalist apologists) have so little faith [understatement alert] in human potentiality, capability and our collective achievements.

  203. 3000BC – typo

  204. Graeme

The best blog sites which have discussed and contributed priceless information about the Indian people attacks are LP and Quiggin. LP’s has had several amazing threads with informed comments from Indians and people who’ve worked with these communities, e.g. myriad on LP.

Unsurprisingly, it’s only leftist/social democratic blogs that care about this issue. If you’re looking for sensible, informed, insightful or empathetic commentary on this from right-wingers/”libertarians” you’re looking in the wrong place. They simply don’t care.

    • Thanks for the tip. I ought to get around to finding out more about it.

  205. I don’t think we necessarily have to attribute the pyramids to aliens. But a slave society couldn’t have done it with the bronze tools alleged to have been available to them. We are talking a high-tech society. The evidence for the pharoanic Egypt cutting and assembling the stones for the pyramids just isn’t there. And we already know that the Sphinx is far older than Pharoanic Egypt so it would be normal to assume that the pyramids were far older also.

Kemi Egypt begins about 5,100 years ago. The Sphinx is at least about 10 000 years old. So we would assume the pyramids would far predate Kemi Egypt. Since the evidence does not exist that those guys had the tools to do the job.

  206. All they needed were people, rope, wood, and stones. Huge blocks were carved and moved in Easter Island by these means. Large stones are moved and used by the surviving megalithic cultures of Southeast Asia and the Pacific. The construction of the pyramids were well within the reach of a determined and intelligent Stone Age culture.

  207. This is not possible. They would have needed very heavy machinery and a powerful energy source. There is no country today that now could afford to do this. Japan back before it sent itself broke perhaps.

This is why we have to think of the blocks as being made for other purposes over a long period of time before the pyramid project was ever conceived. I cannot really speak for the other stones elsewhere.

  208. Graeme, you and I have both lived in Footscray. We know exactly the dynamics of what’s going on except this time it’s Indians rather than Vietnamese.

Plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose.

  209. Very heavy machinery? I don’t think so.

Look at builders labourers. No building could be made without them, even today.

    • Right. But we are not talking bricks and brickees labourers here. Our labourers could not build the pyramids. Not with what we have to work with. But certainly not with bronze chisels and ropes.

  210. btw, ‘myriad’ on LP works for Tasmanian Greens Senator Christine Milne. I’ve had my disputes with her (yes she is a woman too) on LP on other matters but myriad’s contributions on the Indian student attack phenomenon, based to a large extent on her knowledge and experience as a former employee of the Dept of Immigration (I think) are superlative and very informative about what’s going on and how the Indian community, variously and even oppositionally, is responding to these events.

LP has changed a lot. It’s pretty much had a commenter transfusion in the last couple of years and is a much more interesting and useful blog for it.

  211. Right. I’ll bear this in mind and look out for myriad.

  212. I think this is a rather good lecture to put some of these big rock achievements in perspective.

  213. But we are not talking bricks and brickees labourers here. Our labourers could not build the pyramids. Not with what we have to work with”

    Oh ye of little faith.

What we and they had to work with were the same, i.e., we had eyes, qualitatively more advanced tools/organs than a camera or a microscope or telescope.

Those peoples didn’t need telescopes to map the movements of the planets. They built amazingly accurate astronomical observatories such as Stonehenge.

  214. Well I’m not interested in the faith side of things. I cannot find any solid evidence that the Kemi did it. Or that they could have. Or that they had the tools for it.

“Those peoples didn’t need telescopes to map the movements of the planets.”

If they did this sort of thing then they had the telescope. I’ve seen Robert Temples evidence for telescopes in the ancient world. And its pretty extensive.

  215. The problem is both in the natural sciences and the humanities. There is not enough culling of old assumptions.

If I get good evidence for ancient telescopes and almost no evidence for Kemi-built pyramids I’ll just quickly cull one and accept the other. But the academy is not particularly fast on its feet. It goes on building on a bad foundation.

In physics this has finally amounted to a reduction to absurdity in many areas.

  216. You have no evidence either for your hypotheses, nor does Lloyd Pye et al.

The thing is, your arguments are in the end a vote of massive lack of confidence in me and fellow human beings and what we have achieved to date. Which is pretty insulting, to say the least, and also futile and counter-productive in terms of future directions and possibilities.

It’s an academic question whether we really inter-bred with a more intelligent species, etc. And the net result of insisting so in practical terms is to discount and undermine human-evolved intelligence and capability and sow disbelief that we, not any one else, must be the source and impetus in solving the problems humanity faces.

In other words, the end result of your efforts are – objectively – a counsel of despair. And that’s reactionary, retrograde, even despicable, I think, whether conscious or not.

  217. Well we have to have evidence either way. The evidence of a former high-tech society is there if sparse. The evidence for Kemi-Gypos building the pyramids isn’t there.

I’m not specifically pushing an alien agenda. But I’m definitely pushing a former high-tech society.

We have the definite evidence that the Sphinx predates the Kemi. Where is the evidence that the Pharoahs did or could have built the pyramids?

  218. I’m definitely counselling despair if it comes to a communist or slave society being powerfully productive. This goes against economic law.

In my interpretation of what happened that lead to the pyramids being built it was economic law more than anything else that is my guide.

Notice how when I advocate public works projects they are slow patient things. Brought forward in the hope that they will reach a point eventually where the free market can realistically take them up.

These may be no more than a dozen projects, no more expensive than 5000 dollars a day for a very long time. On the basis the several decades later the spark will be lit for the free market to take it up.

So thats faith of a sort. For the Kemi to attempt to build pyramids in 20 years or in 100 years would strip their society of all capital investment and put them down to subsistence level poverty. And they would not achieve anything. I would want to know how many bronze knives you would use up just cutting one stone.

  219. It wasn’t the free market that built the pyramids, or Stonehenge, or which funded exploration to the New World, or built the spaceships that landed on the Moon or which produced the work of Shakespeare, Dante, or Mozart.

  220. Right. Well the Shakespeare deal was voluntary and for-profit. Although he did have patrons. So lets put that aside since its voluntary. And the stonehenge and pyramids. Since we don’t know to what extent these were voluntary undertakings (I would imagine them to be mostly voluntary and built as a result of the free market).

The other projects were an awful waste of money.

  221. In fact, there’s not much different between slave societies and globalised 21st century capitalist society. Therein and therefore lies the irrefutable and apposite leftist critique of modern day class society: a society built on wage slavery and minority private ownership of the means of production and concomitant exploitation and expropriation of majority produced wealth and value.

  222. Well I’m not going to stick up for current economic practice. You may be exaggerating. But I certainly know what you mean. The mid-80’s in the US was probably the last time I would see it as a basically functioning setup. This came after the recovery from brutally hard money.

  223. I think all those dudes died penniless – Mozart, Shakespeare and Dante.

  224. Right. Certainly Mozart did. As the saying goes “Nobody looked after Mozart. Whose going to look after you?”

  225. Pretty exciting to watch.

  226. We watch over each other and the sparrows.

  227. Birdie, try and catch this tomorrow pm on ABC RN. Margaret Atwood – very dry, very droll, very insightful and true.

What I heard tonight cooking dinner was very funny and historically well-researched and grounded. Part 3 tomorrow.
    http://www.abc.net.au/rn/summer/0910/talk/massey/

  228. LOOK AT THIS STUPID TRIBAL WOP. SO FOREIGN TO HIM IS THE PROSPECT OF TWO PEOPLE DISCUSSING MATTERS RATIONALLY, DISAGREEING, BUT STILL LISTENING TO EACHOTHER. AND SUDDENLY SOMETHING SEEMS INCURABLY WRONG TO THIS BOOT-NIGGER. SUDDENLY HE IS LIKE A FOUR YEAR OLD IN THE SANDPIT WITH A MINI IN ONE HAND AND A KENWORTH IN THE OTHER BUT THE KENWORTH IS SMALLER THAN THE MINI*. (EXAMPLE R.R. SLAVEN) AND THE KID CANNOT FIGURE IT OUT. HE CRUMPLES UP HIS LITTLE FOREHEAD. BUT NO MATTER HOW HE TURNS ONE MATCH-BOX TOY OR THE OTHER OR LOOKS AT ONE THEN THE OTHER THEN THE FIRST AGAIN, THE WORLD WILL NEVER BE QUITE RIGHT TO THE KID.

JOSEPH CAMBRIA SEES SENSIBLE CONVERSATION GOING ON AND THE STUPID WOP CANNOT FIT IT INTO HIS WORLDVIEW EXCEPT BY ASSUMING THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE NON-PHILISTINES.

    • Stupid fucking dago.

  229. Yes quite right. He is a stupid fucking dago at that.

I remember one of the Beatles wrote some lyrics about going up in your artillery mounted fighter plane and not letting one of these fucking wops walk. I cannot remember which Beatle it was.

But the lyrics went like this.

“…. Its time to take our wings and fly,

    Don’t let another Dago by,

    My love,

    It’ll be,

    Just like starting over”

It was a rather pleasing song Ron.

It was like Beatles do Elvis in some ways.

Apparently the limey got shot just after releasing the song.

    Oh Well.

“LIVE BY THE SWORD, DIE BY THE SWORD” it is written.

Such is the path of limey honour where stupid wops are concerned.

  230. Birdie:

You’re and lard arse are incapable of rational conversation because you both belong in a mental ward.

    • You sure as hell are one stupid fucking dago.

      • And who are you to call anyone a lard-arse.

You are the one who stinks of fetid mozzarella and mouldy anchovies, you greasy macaroni guzzling Wop.

  231. Yes Ron. He sure as hell is at that.

  232. Right you are Ron; On your second statement as well. Sorry you had to hear it from us Cambria.

  233. All of this most interesting dialogue reminds me again – as so many things do – of my hero, Gen. George S. Patton.

Do you know what Patton called his attack on the Eye-Ties in North Africa, Mr B?

    “OPERATION WOP”

Magnificent isn’t it. He wasn’t playing any games. Not Patton.

That’s what we need. We need a Patton to undertake an OPERATION WOP for the 21st century and clean out hideous grubs like this villain Cambria. Cut off their supplies. Get em in a pincer movement. Annihilate them.

Imagine being able to tell your Grand Kiddies that you were a part of OPERATION WOP. How proud you would be. How they would look up to you.

Cambria wouldn’t understand this. He’d be telling his Grand Kiddies about how he bought a CDO off a Jew. Then he’d wonder why they all listen to hip hop and smoke heroin.

A stupid Dago like Cambria wouldn’t understand OPERATION WOP, because he is a WOP.

  234. Quite.

  235. HAVE YOU GOT SOME SORT OF CONSIDERED ARGUMENT TO MAKE ABOUT THE SASQUATCH WOPPY?

    HOMO-SASQUATCH? IS HE ERECTUS?

    YESORNO?

    YES ……….. OR …….. NO?

  236. An argument? What about? No argument from me that is just a racist hate site run by a lunatic who should be locked up in a mental ward.

WELL IF AN ARGUMENT IS OUT OF THE QUESTION HOW ABOUT A COHERENT SENTENCE YOU STUPID WELFARE QUEEN?

  237. Expecting a straight answer from the Dago is simply unrealistic, Mr B.

Mr Woppy has a Mediterranean Temperament, and as such the Quest for Truth is of little or no value to him (unlike for White Men such as You and I). All he cares about is stuffing his face with greasy wop food.

A wog is constitutionally incapable of giving a “yes or no” answer to a straight question.

If he thinks that saying “yes” will make you stop pestering him long enough so that he can cram some more macaroni down his hairy throat, then he will say “yes”. Such an approach may make him popular with Hebrew Financiers, but does not make him valuable to society.

This is why Ethnics have made no contribution to Science. As usual, it falls to White Men to get the job done. Mark my words – if Sasquatch is found, it will be by a Man of British Ancestry.

  238. “just a racist hate site”

The Eye-Ties aren’t a race, Mr Woppy Wop Wop.

The British People are a Race.

The Eye-Talians are just a bunch of wogs.

  239. From Catallaxy:

“The average IQ in Haiti is around 70. This means there isn’t the brainpower to initiate an effective response in a enormous % of the population.”

At last the Dago makes a sensible comment. If only the Haitians had the sensibility of an Englishman – or even of an Eye-Talian – they’d work out how to move all that rubble.

Bravo, Woppy. Good to see you thinking like a White Man, more or less.

  240. Pauline:

Instead of hiding behind that pathetic moniker, you could always say that to my face.

You want try it one day?

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO CAMBRIA? HIT HIM WITH YOUR WALKING STICK. THROW ON A BLACK DRESS, PRETEND TO BE AN OLD LADY, AND MAKE HIM FEEL GUILTY?

  241. Again, I must apologise for the overwrought and vomitous acting-out of my husband on your blog, Mr Bird.

JC really does need to up his meds. He’s been seeing a shrink. Well, he was. I fear he paid a hitman to blow up her office. Fortunately the young lady survived. The police are investigating but jc is denying all knowledge or motive and still refusing to pay her bills. I;m becoming frightened Mr Bird.

I definitely suspect him of being behind this atrocity. He’d started railing against and berating her (to me) accusing her of being, yep, a “moron” for suggesting he has Oedipal issues and an unusual obsession with full-figured, big-bottomed women. He seems to see them everywhere. But that might just be the ones who frequent his club for men who prefer fatties.

As you more than most have reason to know, Mr Bird, jc is consumed with hate and contempt towards the vast majority of the world’s population. He sneers and lambasts strangers and acquaintances indiscriminately all day long on various blogs he haunts. He does this without the slightest gesture to truthfulness, wit, insight, humour or self-restraint.

Your blog is quite a civilised, intellectual oasis when JC doesn’t disrupt it with his infantile swipes at a man he obviously envies enormously. Envies for very apparent reasons, Mr Bird.

  242. Look, at least the Dago realises that Darkies are too stupid to look after themselves without a White Man’s guidance.

You have to give him points for that.

  243. If sites such as Stonehenge, Giza and Teotihuacan were built as supposed, as observatories, the question does arise, how did these ancient peoples with apparent advanced calendrical and astronomical knowledge muster the resources to be able to do this without the benefit of lenses and telescopes and metal astrolabes?

The Dogon tribe of Timbuctoo in Mali some say had detailed knowledge of the dual star system of Sirius and also Saturn’s halo. Neither feature is detectable by the naked eye. However, there is no proof they had telescopes either. So the best working hypothesis for some is that celestial alignments were assessed using the naked eye.

As to the argument about the gigantic size and weight of the stones used in megalithic structures, some of which would defy even the largest modern crane. Perhaps within this paradox lies the answer. Our technology is simply the wrong technology for the feats carried out then by masses of people.

But your questions are valid ones, Graeme.

How could these peoples have achieved the knowledge they are credited with using the equipment they had? This knowledge did include determining the cardinal points of a compass, the length of the year, the solstices and equinoxes, prediction of the Moon’s movements, the annual rotation of the 12 stations of the Zodiac and, as a final pinnacle, calculation and prediction of the precession of the equinoxes [referring to] the slow cyclical wobble of the Earth’s axis of spin that occurs over a cycle of about 26,000 years. Stephen Oppenheimer, “Eden in the East: The Drowned Continent of Southeast Asia”.

Oppenheimer goes on to opine that all these calculations could theoretically be made, given time, using naked-eye alignments in the observatories. And, he says, prehistoric people had plenty of time on their hands! For at least 35,000 and possibly for 100,000 years they had the same brain as ours. There was plenty of time for protracted observation and we cannot assume that the monuments we see today were in fact the first or only observatories.

  244. Mr B

Look at the vile filth this Cambria is spreading at Catallaxy:

“We never seem to have a problem talking about the high IQ’s of Asians which incidentally is higher than Europeans.”

Disgusting. He confuses Oriental craftiness with intelligence. Stupid fucking Dago.

  245. “I’m definitely counselling despair if it comes to a communist or slave society being powerfully productive. This goes against economic law.”

    What economic law?

But such bureaucratically and hierarchically coercive societies were powerfully productive at least initially for early slave-based society and in significant measure for “communist”, if viewed over its relatively very short time frame, for all the well known contradictory reasons in both cases. Which is to make no moral judgement or statement about the methods or economic/social/political basis of these societies but simply to state recorded undeniable fact.

  246. This would have to be a matter of historical dispute. True communism collapses almost immediately. The Soviet Union was a central prohibition society and not a centrally planned communist society. In other words a mixed economy and one heavily subsidised by the West in certain periods of its ghastly life.

In other societies the history is somewhat lost to us. You may have thought the Egyptians were great wealth producers. But this is because you think they built the pyramids. I see rather slow decay.

The bureaucracy part of it can be explained with reference to the US. The US produced great wealth as a capitalist society. But wealth brings rent-seeking. So the financial sector bureaucracy grew to 20% of GDP, and the governments grew as much as they could tax as well as everything they could borrow and now the whole nation is on the verge of collapse.

I would say in the general the bureaucracy starts off as a sign of advancement, rather than so much as a cause, and then at first partly useful, becomes an oppressor.

  247. “The Dogon tribe of Timbuctoo in Mali some say had detailed knowledge of the dual star system of Sirius and also Saturn’s halo. Neither feature is detectable by the naked eye. However, there is no proof they had telescopes either. So the best working hypothesis for some is that celestial alignments were assessed using the naked eye.”

Impossible. Sirius is a triple star system. Only one of the three stars of Sirius is visible to the naked eye. The Dogon are thought to have known about all three including the brown dwarf. Only discovered by us in the 80’s or 90’s.

Temple traced the movement of the Dogon ancestors all the way out of Egypt. Temple in other work also showed that the ancients had telescopes. The Dogon example again points to a sophisticated high-tech society prior to Kemi-Egypt. The guys I’m calling Velanovins after the supernova Vela, which presumably did them in.

They had to have had telescopes and powerful ones at that. If we are ruling out what they themselves believed. That is to say alien visitation. I would consider these guys (the Velanovins or pre-Vela coastal society) as more high-tech than us. And that after the disaster they would have an economy, at first wealthy, based on the survivors cannibalizing what was left of the pre-disaster capital goods.

The Dogon mystery is part of the sparse, yet valid, evidence for pre-Quaternary extinction event high-technology.

  248. “And, he says, prehistoric people had plenty of time on their hands! ”

See this is where he is falling down. So many intellectuals, great in other respects, lack that economic thinking. People on the breadline lack time and resources for this gear. Since every daylight hour tends to be a search for food. He’s not getting serious about what it takes to carve out and move the big stones around.

  249. WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT NOW DOPEY? LETS HAVE YOUR REASONING RATHER THAN THESE IMPULSES SOURCED FROM YOUR ID.

I’M NOT PUTTING THIS FELLOW DOWN. HE HAS INFORMED ME WITH RELIABLE BACKING THAT I AM IN FACT A BASQUE.

YES THATS RIGHT. YOU SEE ACCORDING TO THIS EXCELLENT FELLOW THOSE WHO SOURCE THEIR ANCESTRY WHOLLY FROM THE BRITISH ISLES, NOT EXCLUDING IRELAND, ARE ACTUALLY NOT AS ANGLO-SAXON-ROMANO-CELT AS WHAT THEY HAD ASSUMED.

OPPENHEIMER’S GENETIC SLEUTHING SUGGESTS THAT EVEN CELTS MADE BARELY A 5% DIFFERENCE TO THE GENE POOL OF THOSE FOLKS THAT WERE THERE EVEN PRIOR TO THOSE CELTS.

AND THE PEOPLE THAT WERE ALREADY THERE MORE RESEMBLED, IN THIS STORY, TODAYS BASQUES, THEN ANY OTHER EXTANT POPULATION.

SO YOU SEE I AM A BASQUE. AND FROM HERE ON I SHALL GET JIGGY WIT MY BASQUE HERITAGE. GET ABOUT IN BASQUE CLOBBER. BASQUE IN THE GLORY OF BASQUE CULTURE. TALK TO HOT BASQUE BABES LIKE PHILOMENA. BLOW UP TARGETS PLEASING ONLY TO MY BASQUE BROTHERS AND SISTERS. AND I’LL PUSH FOR A BASQUE HOMELAND RIGHT HERE IN SOME TERRITORY OF AUSTRALIA. FOR TO BE FREE AND TO BE BASQUE WE BASQUES MUST SEPARATE FROM YOU WHO ARE RELATIVELY DEPRIVED AS TO YOUR BASQUENESS.

  250. GMB SEZ:

Basques aren’t wops. Rather they are always trying to get away from fucking wops who won’t leave them alone. They have separatist movements from one wop or another. They saw the Romans come and go. Although the jury is out as to what extent the Romans were wops. Probably not at all. But Basques are definitely not wops. They were on the Iberian Peninsula before any wops showed up.

  251. Here is what one of our Basque sheilas looks like. Note she has a wop name but she looks like one of my crowd.

  252. Here is another picture of her. Unlike myself she is untarnished by 3000 years of un-Basque genes.

  253. “To understand this stunning military victory, you need to appreciate the co-evolutionary aspects of western Europe, particularly Spain up to that moment, highlighting the different co-evolutionary trajectories possible in central and southern America up till that time.”

What on earth is Peter Patton talking about here? Co-evolutionary? What can this possibly mean? Does he mean these guys were toughened up by throwing out the Muslims?

  254. “OPPENHEIMER’S GENETIC SLEUTHING”

    Mr B

Those are words I would have never wished to read, especially on a highly-regarded blog such as yours.

    If I wanted pr0n, I would have gone to a pr0n site.

    For shame, Mr B.

    For shame.

  255. What’s all this about prawns?

    • Stupid stupid fucking Dago.

  256. “And, he says, prehistoric people had plenty of time on their hands! ”

See this is where he is falling down. So many intellectuals, great in other respects, lack that economic thinking. People on the breadline lack time and resources for this gear. Since every daylight hour tends to be a search for food. He’s not getting serious about what it takes to carve out and move the big stones

Not true. For starters we’re not talking about hunter gatherers but settled people, the Neolithic Age. And even if we were talking about pre-agricultural period, the hunter-gathering mode is actually quite an efficient way of living.

Ethnographic evidence among hunter-gatherers still in existence show they typically need to ‘work’ only 2-4 hours a day in order to provide for themselves and the kin. Skeletal remains of early sedentary folks reveal more signs of malnutrition, infectious diseases and dental decay than those of their hunter-gatherer predecessors.

In Australia the 2-4 hour (10-15%) ratio is commonly given for pre-colonisation (depending on location, season, climactic factors). And when people first domesticated crops this often still remained a minor part of the diet for centuries. Which raises the question, why the switch to settled communities and development of agriculture. Some theorise there was a population crisis in pre-history and it was this which precipitated the evolution of agriculture and sedentism.

    • “Skeletal remains of early sedentary folks reveal more signs of malnutrition, infectious diseases and dental decay than those of their hunter-gatherer predecessors.”

So is it not these people we are alleged to be talking about?

  257. SO YOU SEE I AM A BASQUE. AND FROM HERE ON I SHALL GET JIGGY WIT MY BASQUE HERITAGE.

    That’s the spirit!

You’ve definitely got excellent warrior genes and how grand to get a glimpse of your inner bohemian-cum-rrrevolutionary.

  258. Graeme

I don’t know why you think I might envy your new found tribe when I belong to an equally prodigious tribe

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hakka_people

    • I don’t know why you would envy them either. Particularly as under this theory a dolt like Adrien also becomes a Basque. I was actually thinking of Eric Cartman. Where he keeps on changing his identity in line with the story of who his father might be. What I was trying to say is that I take this Oppenheimer fellow seriously despite that criticism I made. There is no possible way I can analyze where your original comment came from. Other than to say it appears to have arrived straight from your Hakka Id.

  259. But this is because you think they built the pyramids.
    .
The Egyptians didn’t build the pyramids? So who did? The Basques?

AS LIKELY A CANDIDATE AS ANYONE IF THEY WERE TO GO BACK THAT FAR. THE SPHINX PRECEDES KEMI EGYPT. AND OF COURSE THE PYRAMIDS MUST DO SO TOO.

  260. “Skeletal remains of early sedentary folks reveal more signs of malnutrition, infectious diseases and dental decay than those of their hunter-gatherer predecessors.”

So is it not these people we are alleged to be talking about?!

Sprung. But not surrendering. (You would be a fabulous teacher.)

But, no, at the point at which the pyramids etc were built using mass coerced labour by kings or equivalents, a sufficient surplus existed which gave these dudes the power of life and death in the first place and provided the essential pre-requisite means for their construction.

  261. Slave societies are less potentially productive than free societies. We would have to assume that the people who built the pyramids were basically free but had some compelling reason to build them, on that basis alone.

It was the freer industrial economy of the North that destroyed the independence of the secessionist slave-holding Southern Americans. Not because they fought in a more motivated fashion. But largely because they had more productive power at their disposal. When the classical liberals chimed in to help British Christians end the slave trade, they did so on the basis that ending slavery would have economic benefits, not just for the slaves themselves, but in a larger sense.

The last BBC reconstruction of the Kemi building the pyramids had this fellow that they gave a name to. They didn’t have him as a slave. That idea appeared to have died somewhere with the fall of the Soviet Union. So even the quakademic mainstream doesn’t appear to be saying that anymore.

Anyhow they had this fellow. And at one point they appear to have given him access to a pretty good wife-choosing pool. Here we see the writers crudely trying to give their character extra motivation. Their character is oddly none-the-worse for his intense labour.

The writers sussed it out that the people carving out the rocks would need folks to keep sharpening these tiny copper knives. So they had these teams of sharpeners. Thats about as far as their thinking went. But the whole documentary team could have sat down and tried to carve just one of these blocks by this method. They would have found this to be virtually impossible. And certainly to get the sort of absolutely square precision that the real builders got. Where the blocks fit together without mortar and no gaps. Where you cannot fit a razor between them. The documentary team could not do one block in this high-precision manner in the entire time used to make the documentary, with the methods they themselves are getting their fictional characters to do so.

Think of how off-square blocks down the bottom of the pyramids would multiply problems as the pyramid got higher. These are high-tech precision creations each block. From a society more high-tech than ourselves. No team who has ever made these claims has carved even one block like this out of granite with a little bronze knife. They concentrate on inventing new ways to pull a block up a gradient. And even that side of things they cannot do plausibly.

  262. Dry stones walls in Europe were built in much the same way, weren’t they? No mortar. No grinding.

And as for slaves. Plenty of slaves love their owners. Just look at “libertarians” and the “free market”. Some of these dudes are the most pathetically mentally enslaved characters I’ve ever come across in literature or real life. The horror!

Spartacus and his equivalents are a human ideal, and an exception to the rule for most of the time. Though he/we are always omnipresent.

And her cohorts were gleaming with purple and gold.

  263. “Dry stones walls in Europe were built in much the same way, weren’t they? No mortar. No grinding.”

Yeah but tiny little stones. And we don’t claim the Europeans ever worked at this rate. They would put up a castle on a lazy evening if so. Big stones are hard to work with. Also the Europeans were alleged to have harder knives to work with. Iron at least. Steel even.

The size of the stones is the giveaway as to their original usage. As a levy to hold back unstable ice age oceans. Some of the stones at Baalbeck are just huge. And these guys made temples near the pyramids with far bigger stones than what was used for the pyramids. Far bigger than was necessary or practical to use. Giving away the reality that the stones were already in use before the disaster.

The size of some of these blocks gives away their former use. Only holding back the ice age oceans could motivate anyone to go to the trouble to build these things.

And a higher tech society would have a longer structure of production. Necessitating that it have an economy based around economical water transport. We ourselves won’t get much further in economic power and technology if we do not go down this path also.

  264. NOT THESE STONES YOU IDIOT. PHILOMENA WAS TALKING ABOUT STONES WHICH WERE ACTUALLY CARVED OUT IN RECORDED HISTORY. TINY STONES COMPARATIVELY SPEAKING AS I CORRECTLY SAID YOU MORON. STONEHENGE STONES WERE NOT CARVED OUT IN RECORDED HISTORY. WERE NOT THE STONES ANYONE HAS REFERRED TO SO FAR. I DID NOT REFER TO STONEHENGE STONES AS TINY YOU BLOCKHEAD. BUT COMPARED TO THE ONES AT BAALBECK THEY ARE PRETTY SMALL.

YOU ALWAYS CONTRADICT ME AND YOU ARE VIRTUALLY ALWAYS WRONG WHEN YOU DO JUST BECAUSE YOU ACT LIKE A DICKHEAD. THINK BEFORE YOU TYPE.

  265. ” The pyramids were built during recorded history, we know when they were built and who built them.”

Thats not true. Where is your evidence?

  266. Spartacus is human. Not a typo. And the goddesses existed before the gods.

Re the size of the blocks and intention. Relating them to climate change, ice ages and the like is simply self-serving and more than a little obvious.

No, the size of the blocks tell us about the egos who directed their construction. Their reach and hunger and bravery and desire. They tell us about the power of religion and of, well, human power in motion and unleashed.

  267. THATS THE ALLEGATION. LETS HAVE THE EVIDENCE. YOU WOULD WANT TO DO BETTER THAN PHARAONIC PROPAGANDA. I WASN’T AFTER EVIDENCE THAT A PHARAOH EXISTED YOU STUPID TWAT. WE WERE AFTER EVIDENCE THAT HE BUILT THE PYRAMIDS YOU IRRATIONAL CUNT.

YOU ARE SUCH A FUCKING MORON. THINK BEFORE YOU TYPE. THE DISPUTE WAS NOT OVER WHETHER THE PHAROAHS EXISTED YOU COMPLETE TWAT.

  268. Right but it still remains the case that there is no conceivable other reason to build temples with blocks this big had the blocks not been already in use.

Also it is a fact that sea levels during an ice age are vastly more unstable than now. Since so much water is locked up in ice there is the potential for great shifts in sea level.

Hence the mystery of why blocks were already available this large is solved by default.

  269. We’ve had people with very large egos since that time. Just never with the ability to use huge blocks for small temples when smaller blocks would do.

Slave societies cannot build squat. There had been slavery in Africa for a very long time when the Europeans got there. And there wasn’t much in the way of monumental buildings. Because slave societies are unproductive. Slavery is no magical production machine as is assumed rather it is a great fat hindrance. And this cannot have been any different for the Kemi as for anyone else.

  270. STOP FUCKING ARGUING FROM SELF-REFERENCE YOU FUCKING BLOCKHEAD. IF YOU THINK THAT THE PYRAMIDS WERE MADE WITH LITTLE BRONZE KNIVES BY PEOPLE TOTALLY INCAPABLE OF DOING THE JOB, FOR NO SENSIBLE PRACTICAL REASON, LETS HAVE THE EVIDENCE FOR THAT.

  271. No they weren’t built for a masoleum. For fucksakes man. Find some evidence before you repeat this stuff.

There is no way you can afford the spare resources to put together six million high precision blocks for a fucking mausoleum. Get a grip of yourself Adrien.

Its clear that blocks this size and especially the larger ones can have only one original usage. And thats for ocean levies for a high-tech coastal society.

  272. YES I’M FUCKING SURE. STOP FUCKING AROUND AND COME UP WITH SOMETHING YOU FUCKING COCKHEAD.

LOOK YOU COME HERE YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO PICK YOUR ACT UP. IF YOU WANT TO BE A BLOCKHEAD AND SIT AROUND MAKING CLAIMS WITHOUT MAKING A CASE YOU HAVE CATALLAXY AND OTHER PLACES THAT SUIT YOU JUST FINE.
    .
    Oh sorry. Okay.

  273. Fucking hell Adrien. I’ve known about the quakademic theory for a very long time. Attempt to do a little bit more than simply repeat it. Go look at Philomena’s posts. She tries to argue the case. Don’t be just repeating the allegations back to me as if I’ve never heard them before you twit. It is precisely this theory that I’m disputing. So what fucking good is it you simply repeating it back to me.

This is as stupid as Edney.

  274. WE WERE TALKING ABOUT BIG BLOCKS YOU FUCKING RETARDED CUNT.

WHAT IS THE POINT OF SHOWING ME PHOTOS OF BUILDINGS WITHOUT ANYTHING LIKE THE SIZE, NUMBER OR PRECISION OF BLOCKS.

    YOU ARE SUCH A CUNT.

NOW FROM HERE ON IN START TAKING THE ARGUMENT SERIOUSLY.

LOOK WHAT A CUNT OF YOURSELF YOU HAVE MADE. YOU HAVE GONE OUT OF YOUR WAY NOT TO MAKE A SINGLE LOGICAL ARGUMENT AT ALL.

DO YOU GET IT THAT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT BIG PRECISION BLOCKS YOU CUNT?

  275. NO THEY DIDN’T YOU CUNT. THATS THE ALLEGATION I’M DISPUTING. COME UP WITH SOME EVIDENCE. DON’T JUST REGURGIATTE YOU FUCKING BLOCKHEAD.

  276. SURE SLAVE SOCIETIES CAN BUILD SOME THINGS. JUST NOT AS EFFECTIVELY AS FREE SOCIETIES. MAKE A PROPER EXPLICIT ARGUMENT OR FUCK OFF.

SO THAT WAS YOUR ARGUMENT WAS IT? SO YOU DIDN’T ADD ANYTHING TO WHAT PHILOMENA WAS ARGUING. SO WHAT WAS YOUR POINT?

    FUCKING MORON.

YOU ARE JUST A DUMMY MATE.

  277. Don’t just spam my blog with assertions you cunt Adrien.

Now do you have an argument or not? You don’t do you?

I have not found a single argument in any of the shit you’ve been spinning.

  278. Graeme, I think you deleted it so can’t check wording, but Adrien’s comment that these megalithic structures were tombs not temples is quite wrong and demonstrated an important misunderstanding of how human beings view and deal with life and death and their inter-relationship.

They most certainly had a ritualised, symbolic role expressing a religious or mystical celebration of life which was also manifested by an attempted and hugely successful for the time scientific-astronomical tracking/mapping function.

  279. Right. This is something that most of megolithic era structures have in common. Its another reason to backdate the pyramids to the stone age rather than the bronze age. This obsession with astrology is something that the big rock structures have in common and a key to their mystery.

  280. I disagree that slave societies were not productive in the first instance. They were Graeme. And once a surplus was achievable, social differentiation was possible and thus the class division could occur.

Women were probably the first slaves, bride price and exchange etc within a growing institution of patriarchy. The megaliths were built by 100,000s who in turn were organised, directed, centrally controlled by minority (religious-political-social) hierarchies.

  281. NO DON’T BULLSHIT PEOPLE. YOU DID NOT HAVE AN ARGUMENT. IF YOU GET ONE STATE IT SIMPLY. DON’T FUCK AROUND WITH YOUR TYPICAL IDIOCY.

MAKE AN ARGUMENT, STATE IT OPENLY, IT WILL GET THROUGH BELIEVE ME YOU CUNT.

  282. Yes but Philomena. You are basing the idea that slave societies were productive on the Egyptians themselves. Otherwise who are you thinking of?

  283. CONCOMMITANT?

FUCKING MAKE YOUR ARGUMENT STRAIGHT YOU FUCKING IDIOT.

  284. “There is no way you can afford the spare resources to put together six million high precision blocks for a fucking mausoleum. Get a grip of yourself Adrien.

Its clear that blocks this size and especially the larger ones can have only one original usage. And thats for ocean levies for a high-tech coastal society.”

I don’t know Graeme. Often it seems that religion trumps self-preservation with we human bears of very little brain.

  285. See Adrien if you make your argument in a simple, explicit clear and non-smartarse way you might find you don’t have one. Then you may be forced to think and find one. Then you may actually update your thinking or refine your current view.

So far you’ve just made a cunt of yourself, haven’t come up with anything, and then tried to paste over your argument-deficit by attempting to haggle over other peoples wording.

This is a mental handicap. And its somewhat willful.

    Just argue straight you cunt.

Then you might get somewhere in logic.

  286. The Babylonians, Chinese, Greeks and Romans?

  287. But for one thing its a physical impossibility Philomena. These are very hard granite rocks. Its a big deal to cut them with motorized diamond-tipped cutting equipment. To suggest they were cut to perfection with little bronze knives is just silly.

If Pharaohs wasted resources in this way that would be the end of them quite apart from the reality that they wouldn’t produce anything worthwhile.

One pharoah moved an entire city upriver in preference to cutting a single block. Which shows the difficultly in cutting any of the bigger ones (and the relative ease of water transport).

Medieval castles are made in a more add hoc fashion. with the appropriate stones being selected as you go. No stone perfectly the size of the last.

But an ocean levy in the ice age needs big blocks. Nothing else would do and no other use could justify the effort in making them. Plus most of these blocks have the shellfish imbedded in them giving it away that they were sourced off the ocean floor.

  288. Most of those guys working with smaller stones and without the precision requirements. None of them working with little bronze knives. Lets exclude the Babylonians since we have no sense of their technology, some of which may have been inherited from pre-Quarternary Catastrophe.

The great wall made on and off over a millenium. Without the precision requirements the job of cutting stones to fit is a great deal easier. Also the Chinese would have had steel and had time periods with part of their economy free so as to accumulate capital one would imagine. .

  289. They weren’t cut. The stones were sorted and matched.

  290. http://images.google.com.au/images?gbv=2&hl=en&sa=1&q=pyramids+up+close&btnG=Search&aq=f&oq=&start=0

  291. Right but thats 11000+ years weathering in my book. You go inside and head down a tunnel. And the blocks, without motor, create tunnels that are virtually seamless.

  292. Like caves?

  293. Like perfectly designed corridors with perfectly designed blocks which were cut to exactly the size desired. No mortar, but hard pressed to find where the seams are.

Do I like caves. Yes of course. Like any good Basque I dig caves.

  294. I meant “such as caves”. That’s the thing. Caves were our original sacred space, ritual temples, chosen not only for their inaccessibility but because they were thought to be in some sense gateways to and from the underworld.

“They gave humans their first conception of architectural space, their first glimpse of the power of a walled enclosure to intensify spiritual receptivity and emotional exhaltation. The painted chamber within a mountain prefigures the tomb of the Egyptian pyramid, itself a man-made mounctian, deliberately imitative…. the pyramid, the ziggurat, the Mithraic grotto, the Christian crypt all have their prototypes in the mountain cave”. Lewis Mumford, The City in History.

  295. FUCKING MAKE YOUR ARGUMENT STRAIGHT YOU FUCKING IDIOT.
    .
Okay. Astrology happened in de Bronze age.
    .
WHAT IS YOUR FUCKING POINT ADRIEN?

  296. PUT VELANOVINS IN THE SEARCH ENGINE DUMMY

  297. YOU DIDN’T HAVE AN ARGUMENT ADRIEN. ATTEMPT NOT TO CLOG UP MY BLOG WITH EVIDENCE/ARGUMENT FREE POSTS WHEREIN YOU ARE EITHER REGURGITATING DOGMA I’M SPECIFICALLY DISPUTING, OR EXAMPLES OF YOU JUST BEING A SMARTARSE.

NOWHERE HAVE YOU MADE A STRAIGHT CLEAR ARGUMENT FOR ANYTHING. IS THIS SOME SORT OF MENTAL DEFECT? YOU POST A PICTURE OF BIG STONES AT STONEHENGE IN ORDER TO ARGUE AGAINST SMALLER STONES IN MIDDLE AGES CASTLE CONSTRUCTION ……. IE 10 000 OR SO YEARS OUT OF THE RELEVANT DATE. AND I’VE GOT TO FUCKING GUESS WHAT THE FUCK YOUR ARGUMENT IS, BUT ITS NOT ARGUMENT ITS JUST A FUCKING DISTRACTION. THEN YOU TRY AND HAGGLE OVER THE WORDING AFTER I TRY AND GUESS WHAT YOU ARE ON ABOUT.

NOW STOP BEING A MORON AND PICK YOUR ACT UP. I WOULD LIKE NOTHING BETTER FOR YOU TO POST HERE SO LONG AS YOU GIVE IT YOUR BEST SHOT AND ATTEMPT NOT TO BE AN IMBECILE.

  298. STILL NOT GOOD ENOUGH. YOU SEE ITS NOT A CLEAR ARGUMENT. ITS JUST YOU BEING A SMART ALEC.

  299. If you want an understanding of the problem with Giza listen to Robert speaking here:

  300. MR: Bird;

Don’t you have comment to make on this?

  301. http://www.businessweek.com/news/2010-01-21/goldman-sachs-profit-beats-estimates-on-cuts-to-compensation.html

  302. Yes of course. They stole the money. The market dictated that they, IAG, who they had paid money to to hedge, their underwriting business, their derivative business, and all those who had counterparty risk with them……

…. the market dictated that they all be wiped clean and every last one of these guys out of a job. But these guys bribed Washington, got everyone they had counterparty risk with bailed out, all non-counterparty risk competitors dissolved ….. And so they are nothing but thieving criminals. No wealth was created in the stealing of their unjust gains.

Furthermore any of us who had their current government subsidies and political backing would become billionaires within 30 years. No problem at all.

You admire them because you are a dumb primitive wop. And dumb primitive wops admire lunkheaded jerks in organised crime.

  303. You’d have to say that cutting the bonus pool and instead deciding to serve their shareholders rather than their top coterie of executive thieves, for just one financial year, is a wise political move. A wise political move for a bunch of people that could very well wind up in jail if people in Washington got sick of being intimidated by these brazen criminals.

No-one is going to forget that these guys are thieves who ought to be unemployed. The memory of this fact is always going to be there. But they are so powerfully secure in Washington for the moment. This little fucking outfit of criminals. A relatively small company. But because its now fallen over the line from merely dirty business, to organized crime, it gives more political donations than any other company in the world.

  304. “Step 1: Sell mortgage-related securities that are absolute junk to trusting clients at vastly overinflated prices.

Step 2: Bet against those same mortgage-related securities and make massive bets against the U.S. housing market so that your firm will make massive profits when the U.S. economy collapses.

Step 3: Have ex-Goldman executives in key positions of power in the U.S. government so that bailout money can be funneled to entities such as AIG that Goldman has made these bets with so that they can get paid after they win their bets.

Step 4: Collect the profits – Goldman Sachs is having their “most successful year” and will end up reporting approximately $50 billion in revenue for 2009.

So is it right for the biggest fish on Wall Street to make tens of billions of dollars by betting that the U.S. housing market will collapse?

You see, when you are talking about a financial giant the size of Goldman Sachs, the line between “betting that something will happen” and “making something happen” gets blurred very quickly.”

Apart from fractional reserve which is the root cause of the problem (we must get to fractional reserve/growth deflation and stay there… Even if that means being real nice to current debtors to bring them along with us)……

…. the other problem is just political influence of the financial sector. Because if there was no influence Goldman could have made the wrong bet and failed. But they had enough political swing to see to it that it was a “heads I win tails you lose” affair.

As things stand the market would have wiped them out entirely. Its not part of their plan that they had to raid the treasury. Hence its very clear that they bet wrong and should have lost. Instead of losing they exercised enough influence in Washington to win, even though they lost.

Fundamentally by stealing. Stealing primarily for the benefit of all those that they held counterparty risk with.

  305. So notice. AIG gets bailed out. Why? Goldman Sachs has counterparty risk with it. So AIG pays them out billions. Billions that they would not have had if Goldman Sachs did not steal on their behalf.

JP Morgan gets bailed out? Why? Effectively they are derivative partners. Goldman Sachs makes each way bets on derivatives. But what if the other guy cannot pay up.

Merril Lynch doesn’t fold like it ought to have but instead gets bought. Goldman steals money to lend to someone to buy Merrill.

    Why?

Because Merril Lynch also has derivative each way bets that need to be honoured for Goldman not to go under.

What about the ones that did go under?

They were competitors and not counterparty risk holders.

These guys were never wealth creators. But they just stepped over the line into organised crime. They are gangsters now. They have to live with the consequences.

  306. “Okay. Astrology happened in de Bronze age.”

    You don’t say.

But the beginning of mathematical astronomy and astrology have been traced to to the earlier Chalcolithic or Copper Age period.

  307. Great factoid Philomena. I’ll have to look that up. Because if I’m right the absolute obsession with the stars would have come with the destruction visited upon the human race from Vela.

The priority after that catastrophe would have been to pass on the understanding that these guys had to look at the stars obsessively and track the possibility of new disasters. But over thousands of years the reason for the need for this may have faded. Or else we would see whatever residual message coming down to us as primitive myth.

  308. Couple of links, Birdie

    http://www.press.uchicago.edu/presssite/metadata.epl?mode=synopsis&bookkey=5550077

    http://books.google.com.au/books?id=dPUBAkIm2lUC&printsec=frontcover&dq=david+lindberg+%2B+beginnings+of+western+science&source=bl&ots=jTPd3eEHdH&sig=B25anqLmfLNplD-U4Qg473tstXo&hl=en&ei=a_BYS_DgCI-GNrq_qYAP&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=1&ved=0CAcQ6AEwAA#v=onepage&q=&f=false

  309. Right. One of them seems to be a free book online.

Its such a pity that science has now gone rotten. With such a venerable and noble past. To see it go bad so quickly is very sad.

  310. Philomena my email has collapsed for some reason. Could you email me on the other address?

  311. WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT DUMMY? WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT THE QUARTERNARY EXTINCTION EVENT THAT I DON’T KNOW?

WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT THE ASTONISHING EFFORT THAT STONE AGE PEOPLE PUT INTO TRACING THE STARS THAT I DON’T KNOW?

DO YOU IMAGINE THAT THIS ENORMOUS EFFORT WAS FOR NO GOOD CAUSE?

  312. Graeme, my theory that the filmed “Bigfoot” you linked to was shamanistic in purpose, if not a deliberate hoax, could be borne out by this other interesting factoid.

A palaeolithic drawing in the Caverne de Trois-Frères at Ariège depicts a man dressed in a stag’s skin, wearing antlers on his head, presumably a shaman/wizrd/sorcerer, while a bone engraving of the same period in an English cave depicts a man whose face is masked by a horse’s head.

Histories of British folk customs claim that as late as the 7thC A.D. the calends of January were observed by men dressed in the skins and heads of animals, who ran leaping and prancing in the streets, a practice banned by the Church of England as “devilish”.

    • Twenty years after that “Harry And The Hendersons” got awards for the special effects to do with the suits that the actors were wearing. And yet those suits aren’t as good as Patti’s.

  313. So Jason.

Sinclair has me on moderation and a “very short leash” at the Cat.

He lets JC talk about how black people have an IQ of 70 and are too stupid to take care of themselves, but then sophisticated commentators such as Graeme and I get banned.

Sinc wiped a completely innocuous comment of mine about how the Supreme Court ruling in Citizens United represented judicial activism.

    Fuck him.

    • Yeah I’ve noticed the Sinclair double standard when it comes to Cambria. Now Cambria is here in drag. There is something deeply disturbing about a wop that shows up on ones blog dressed as a woman.

  314. Your comment is awaiting moderation.

Sinclair, why did you wipe my comment about conservative judicial activism? What was objectionable about that?

Seriously, you can’t say it’s because of standards.

Look at JC’s ignorant racist garbage. You let that crap through.

If I comment anywhere other than in the open forum, which is traditionally a free for all, I keep it to the point.

I made an inoffensive (if sarcastic) comment about judicial activism and stare decisis in the appropriate thread, and you wiped it. No swearing, no insults – it was a bona fide comment making a legitimate point.

    But you wiped it.

    Why?

  315. JC,

Tou are as thick as two short planks.

You say that Haitians have an AVERAGE IQ of 70 and you don’t think that’s offensive?

That’s so obviously ignorant of the reality of Haitian history, and so totally unsupported by any evidence whatsoever, that it’s obviously offensive and hurtful.

But anyway you can keep on doing whatever you want cos I have been banned for failing to satisfy Catallaxy’s high standards.

  316. Mr Tillman, Joe is quite stupid and short-term memory deficient. This goes with the anality and bullying particularly of Black people.

JC does think Black people are inferior and he told me Sinclair Davidson and he see eye to eye on that, at least privately. Sinclair supports all forms of racial apartheid and so did all his family. Very coarse people from all accounts.

JC was actually sacked in the US for sexual and racial harassment of a fellow Black employee.

    • Yes, Sinclair is good isn’t he.

  317. YOU’VE GOT TO BE CRAZY CAMBRIA. WHERE DID YOU GET THE IDEA THAT THEY HAD AN AVERAGE IQ OF 70? LETS MAKE THIS VERY CLEAR. YOU HAVEN’T BACKED DOWN FROM THIS YET? WHAT MAKES YOU THINK THAT?

  318. Where is this average IQ of 70 Jive coming from?

  319. Good pick Graeme. Deeply disturbing indeed.

It was JC/BirdLab who always used to depict you – in his perverted mind’s eye – sitting in your home in women’s underwear. I remember once commenting that JC/BirdLab had watched Polanski’s ultra-creepy sadso-masochistic ‘The Tenant’ once too many times.

And JC/BirdLab is fixated on mocking women with big bottoms especially those who are Black. Another manifestation of his sexist and racial hatred.

Mrs Cambria, if you’re still around. I’d be locking away my lingerie if I were you. Your husband is almost certainly a transvestite.

  320. Both emails down at the same time. One might suspect enemy action. I think that Cambria signed me up for maybe 20 horoscope sites. Of a type very difficult to cancel.

  321. The prospect of rich nutballs, who have gone to the trouble of getting themselves a Singaporean provider number …… the prospect of such nutballs mucking about with ones emails is quite worrying to say the least. I will be consulting my provider on such possibilities.

  322. The recent revival of long-standing abstract theories of “intelligence” and IQ testing and attempts to correlate IQ with race were completely dissected and demolished by Stephen Jay Gould in “The Mismeasure of Man” and by others too numerous to mention decades ago.

But these racist and unscientific views have had something of a revival in the new guise of evolutionary psychology, responding to the wave of free market individualism that became widespread post-1990 and which reached its apogee immediately prior to the GFC.

  323. Right. But even if this is contentious or dubious stuff, where is this 70 figure coming from? Charles Murray was only alleging about a 15 point difference if memory serves me correctly.

  324. Who knows? Who cares? It’s only marginalised extreme right-wing nutters who are openly saying it.

BTW, Birdie, the new Aboriginal boss is the bee’s knees. We’re all going to have to be on our metal. He’s got a mind like a steel trap!

(sorry for all the cliches, I sound like a non-mentally retarded JC) LOL.

  325. Your comment is awaiting moderation.
    Screw you Davidson.

I know why you have banned me.

It’s because I called you out a long time ago as a hack academic and a faux intellectual.

You are way out of your depth.

Sorry dude but it’s the truth.

    Deal with it.

    Sayonara, chump.

  326. Your comment is awaiting moderation.
    you are not banned

Really? then, Sinc, why did you wipe my comment questioning whether the ruling in Citizens United was consistent with conservative principles of stare decisis and judicial minimalism?

Was it because of the substance of the comment or because it was I who posted it?

probably in violation of Victorian law

LOL. What a chucklehead you are.

A flagrantly preposterous assertion. I assume you are referring to the Racial and Religious Tolerance Act 2001 (Vic). Since you seem to fear prosecution, Sinkers, I suggest you comfort yourself by referring to the exceptions provided under section 11 of said Act. If you can’t work out why there’s no violation of any law, please let me know and I’ll be happy to walk you through it.

Comments that you make in violation of Victorian legislation relating to race are not published

    Refer comment above.

Further, you are now accusing me of being a racist criminal.

Please retract your defamatory comments or I will immediately commence legal action. I will have you locked up for criminal defamation hahahaha.

Also, if that’s the rule here, then why did you let through Cambria’s comment about Haitians having an average IQ of 70 and thus being incapable of taking care of themselves?

My “criminal” post, which was obviously sarcastic and manufactured, was made in response to JC’s sincerely racist comment.

But you give ME the lecture about my speech being illegal…. in, of all places, a thread that YOU started to celebrate freedom of speech. And to think that some people accuse libertarians of being incoherent and arbitrary…

Also, please go back and wipe all of Soon’s links to Deadwood clips where Wu and Swearengen engage in racial vilification. Pretty silly standard you are setting, huh?

you do try to post under multiple identities

Bullshit. A grand total of two identities, one of which is obviously the alter ego of the other.

    you do troll

    LOL

  327. Tillman you cannot seriously lay this sort of thing on Davidson because your online persona is under an assumed name.

I mean I can see he’s being a sonofabitch sure. I’m getting to think that the woppy might be contributing financially to Catallaxy. Or its just Bernanke’s disease where these people, who are supposed to be economists, are constantly toadying to blockhead bankers who have made some money. The way that Bernanke went along with the retarded dope Henry Paulson.

  328. Catallaxy is bought, owned and controlled by Joe Cambria. It is true. My husband gets an established blog where he can spew his racist, sexist filth at will. Sinclair Davidson doesn’t have to worry about how to pay the bills attendant on his chronic carelessness and failure to provide protection for the blog, thus allowing it to be hacked more than once under his stewardship and, the recent coup de grâce, losing the last five year’s archives.

Incredible fecklessness. But this is not a smart man.

  329. It’s Sinclair’s dishonesty that bugs me, Graeme.

If he wants to ban me that’s fine. But he should be honest and just say that it’s because I annoy him.

  330. Your comment is awaiting moderation.
    Sincair

You are an idiot. A dishonest idiot.

If you wanted to ban me because you think I’m a tool or a troll, I can live with that. Just say you are exercising your discretion to ban tools. Nothing wrong with that. Well within your rights. I wouldn’t complain.

But don’t come up with a bullshit dishonest excuse about me being racist.

If you didn’t think Ron’s comment praising JC for his derogatory comments regarding the intelligence of Haitians was obviously sarcastic, you are an idiot.

If you think what I posted and got banned for was any more likely to incite contempt for a class of persons on the grounds of race that what JC posted, then you are an idiot.

If you think failure to provide an email address has anything to do with section 11 of the Racial and Religious Tolerance Act 2001, then you are an idiot.

If you thought my wiped comment about the Robert’s court’s adherence to stare decisis was racist, then you are an idiot.

In short, Sinc, you are an idiot. A dishonest idiot.

And that’s why you engaged in your act of heavy-handed censorship.

    Not because I am racist.

But because you are an idiot, and I have told you before that you are an idiot. That’s why you wouldn’t let me post.

And now there is a wiped post of min that no one can read – and everyone relies on you saying that it marks me a criminal racist. And obviously I must have said something worse than JC’s comment to the effect that Haitians are mentally retarded, because you did NOT find that comment racist.

  331. His less than consistent approach wouldn’t be so bad were he not a Cambria toady. He let too much nastiness go Philomena’s way even after I brought it to his notice. Part of that must surely have been an unwillingness to bring the slipper down on that stupid wop.

  332. I went over your Vilanovan thingy. First there’s this:

We Australians could be seen as being closer to the ugly Pharaonic Egyptians.
    .
    ugly?
    .
I don’t understand what evidence suggests that the pyramids were built just after the commencement of the Holocene era. The evidence that suggests the Sphinx was built that long ago comes from the erosion marks on it which suggests heavy rainfall of a kind that hasn;t existed in Egypt since. But the pyramids?
    .
And where do these Velanovins come from. I googled them and I got – you. Did you just make it up?

  333. Of course I made it up. Its my thesis. I was using it to make it clear I wasn’t talking about the Kemi.

“The evidence that suggests the Sphinx was built that long ago comes from the erosion marks on it which suggests heavy rainfall of a kind that hasn;t existed in Egypt since. But the pyramids?”

    But the Pyramids what?

When are you saying the pyramids were built? And with what evidence? You make a claim. You say they were built at a certain time. What is the evidence for your claim?
    .

  334. You see that Adrien? Your post does get through if you put a bit of effort into it.

  335. But the Pyramids what?
    .
What evidence states that the pyramids were builts c. 12000 years ago.
    .
When are you saying the pyramids were built? And with what evidence?
    .
Over a long period of time. The Cheops pyramid was built about 3000 years ago. The evidence for this is the contemporary documents that show this. I’ve cited them upstairs but you wiped it.

  336. Listen. Why are you repeating what we already know I”m disputing?

What is your evidence for your claims? You say that contemporary documents say so. Bullshit. You didn’t post contemporary documents at all.

    Do better.

What do you MEAN by contemporary?

It might seem like a silly question but its not. Contemporary to what? What is the document saying. Lets have it all. Lets have your case.

  337. See Adrien, you knew all along I was disputing your interpretation. Obviously by repeating your interpretation, this is no argument in favour of it, since this is the matter in dispute.

Now supposing there was good evidence for what you say? Good evidence as to who, how, and why? Well it would be a simple matter of you spelling this stuff out in your own words.

But the Pharaohs didn’t build the pyramids. Since they could not have done so and would not be so stupid as to have tried it on.

  338. What do you MEAN by contemporary?
    .
I mean that documentary sources from the time said Cheops had a pyramid built.

    • Well lets have them then if thats what you are claiming. Documentary sources you say? What a strange claim to make when they didn’t have any paper. So go ahead. You tell me what the evidence is.

  339. Mr Bird you remind me of J.D. Salinger, whom you resemble as a writer. Certainly you resemble his 17 year old creation, the adorable Holden Caulfield.

Salinger was 32 when he wrote The Catcher in the Rye.

  340. Thanks I guess. I’ll have to read that one again. The kid sort of wears himself out doesn’t he? Salinger then disappeared after that didn’t he? Or just studiously kept out of the limelight.
    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Adrien now you have said there are these “documents.” Where are they? Where are they kept? What do they say literally?

I suspect you are making it up right? Or that you don’t know anything about the extent of this alleged documentary evidence?

Parchment or stone in your theory Adrien? If they are carved in stone they must be somewhere and stay something specific.

The Epic of Gilgamesh is carved in stone also. And one can easily access a translation of it. So if you are right the same ought to apply here.

If you don’t know what you are talking about come back and say so. Don’t pussy out and run away.

  341. I’ll have to read that one again, after I go and buy myself one of these new “Kindles.” Where is the best place to get one of these blessed things?

I like the idea of it so much I don’t think I ought to delay at all.

  342. Australians looking for our Yowies:

  343. So Adrien. Will you admit now that you were full of shit? All that faux-certainty and assurance. You cannot specify any translation of documents at all.

You just made it up didn’t you?

  344. Okay what you fucking moron? Were we interested in the age of some campfire or someone taking a crap?

We were interested in the age of the fucking stones you fucking moron. Not of some other activity that went on sometime after they were built.

You are such a fucking cretin.

Now either come up with this documentary evidence you were talking about or admit you are lying. Because if its written in stone I should be able to go get a translation. Just as I can get a translation for the epic of Gilgamesh.

Go and fucking look in the mirror and fucking admit that you are a dumb cunt.

  345. You didn’t construct anything about the construction of the pyramids you lying cunt.

WHERE IS YOUR EVIDENCE YOU CUNT.

I’m wiping your posts because you are putting up stuff that isn’t evidence and claiming it is.

Rewrite your posts you fucking lying cunt.

  346. What evidence FOR YOUR THEORY do you have you useless cunt Adrien.

You are just a fucking cunt mate. You linked a Papyrus that has nothing to do with pyramid construction. You linked radiocarbon dating that had nothing to do with pyramid construction. Then you claimed that there also was astrological evidence as well.

    Come up with some evidence.

  347. I’LL ASK YOU AGAIN YOU LYING CUNT. WHERE IS YOUR DOCUMENTARY EVIDENCE FOR WHEN THE PYRAMIDS WERE BUILT.

YOU’VE BEEN LYING THE WHOLE FUCKING TIME YOU CUNT.

  348. One thing at a time you fucking lying cunt.

Now where is your documentary evidence FOR YOUR THESIS OF WHEN THE PYRAMIDS WERE BUILT.

    GO!!!!!!!

Now if you were not lying before it will be a simple matter of finding that documentary evidence. We are fucking concentrate on the documentary evidence you were lying about earlier.

So lets have it now. Its got to be about the pyramids you cunt. You cannot get any papyrus from that time and pretend its evidence for any bullshit you have on the fly.

  349. We are concentrating on the documentary evidence alone until you stop lying. Where is it you lying cunt.

You claimed that you had documentary evidence.

    Spit it out you asshole.

  350. I went to your link you lying cunt. I’ve got your comments on moderation. So I went to your link. Guess what. You were lying. You had not linked to documentary evidence of the date of the pyramids at all.

So you were lying all the time.

Now fucking lets have your fucking documentary evidence you cunt or admit that you were lying.

  351. Have you got the documentary evidence or not you worthless lying sack of shit?

These are the filibusters you run all the time you fucking moron. So you don’t have any evidence at all do you? No you don’t.

So why do you believe it? Is this a faith-based thing?

If you had the documentary evidence you could link to a translation.

  352. Fucking hell. Is there nothing that you will not lie about. You even tried to lie that I’d wiped the evidence that you had linked. But I’ve got them here and you have linked no such evidence.

Now where is the documentary evidence you have been claiming for your beliefs?

  353. CONCENTRATE YOU FUCKING LIAR. We can go over any evidence you think you have once we have got past your claim of DOCUMENTARY EVIDENCE for when the pyramids were built you useless cunt.

Now its a pretty simple thing. If there is the documents there must be a translation. Lets have the fucking translation.

Or admit you were lying. Its simple. A translation. About the pyramids specifically.

  354. I SAY

We were interested in the age of the fucking stones

    ADRIEN SEZ:
    .
“Stones are hundreds of millions of years old. You can’t determine their date.”

So what does the moron do? He sends me reports of radio-carbon dates for material in the general area. What is the reasoning here?

But first we await this lying cunt telling me what documentary evidence he has. He’s claimed it the whole time.

  355. From one of those links:

“Archaeologists believe Egypt’s large pyramids are the work of the Old Kingdom society that rose to prominence in the Nile Valley after 3000 B.C. Historical analysis tells us that the Egyptians built the Giza Pyramids in a span of 85 years between 2589 and 2504 BC.”

Historical analysis. Thats it then. Historical analysis. Sounds like no evidence at all. Now it would be nice if the lying moron Adrien made good with this documentary evidence he was insisting on.

  356. Graeme, you say that the Pharoahs couldn’t have built the pyramids and wouldn’t have wanted to. I disagree. Some potted history.

Early manipulation of the environment did not necessarily entail complex scientifically based innovations. Digging canals is not rocket science. The elaborate dike systems of Holland were evolved from sandpits and mudbanks. In most if not all technological beginnings, Theophrastus sezs: “it is manifest that Art follows [and imitates] Nature, and sometimes produces very peculiar things”. Like pyramids, perchance?

To succeed tho’ irrigation would need some authoritative direction and by the Pyramid Age this was and would have had to be also religiously and secularly hierarchical (priest-kings).

We don’t know exactly where or which were the first cities in this region, or in human history. They most certainly predated by 100s possibly 1000s of years those we do know existed. Probably they’re buried somewhere in the muddy deltas of the Nile and Euphrates. Civilisation preceded the formation of cities, they were a consequence not cause of civilisation. Before a city can be founded the level of technique of agriculture must be raised so non-producers can be maintained on its surplus. Such an agricultural technique requires several things. Principally an understanding of the seasons aided by the development of astronomy. And central organisation. This implies a division of labor including a body of administrators headed by an institution of kingship, incorporating secular power of life and death because of monopoly control and direction of communal resources, and religious power because this is how ideology developed initially.

The transition from small dispersed households and villages into the earliest city necessitated people co-operating in ways they never had before. This in turn fuelled the proliferation of new ideas, inventions, specialisations. In “The Satire of the Trades”, which may date back to the 2nd millennium B.C. in Egypt, the writer mentions some 18 different trades besides his/her own (scribe) tho’ omitting the higher professions of priest, soldier, healer, architect, etc.

By the time Herodotus visited Egypt in the 5th century B.C. the division of labour had resulted in such specialties as this: “some physicans are for the eyes, others for the head, others for the teeth, others for the belly, others for internal disorders”.This system of specialised labour in India reached a point of absurdity where minute divisions between castes became hereditary.

Now occupational and caste stratification in the ancient cities produced an urban pyramid which arguably the Egyptian pyramids, built by kings and forced and free labour, sought to mirror. Which rose to a literally manifested peak in the absolute ruler. King, priest, warrior, scribe formed the apex of the pyramid. But the king alone at the highest point caught the full rays of sun. Below the layers widened out into all the trades and workers, bound and free.

While the pyramids can be admired as a feat of architecture and engineering you could say they represent a waste of the lives and labour of 10s of 1000s for the hypothetical benefit of the soul of the Pharaoah (or equivalent).

But the point is that the successive transformations in technique that occurred from the beginning of civilisation which allowed the pyramids to be built, as today, were/are motivated at every turn by the interests of individuals and groups of the ruling class at the time.

  357. Very nice post. But its just hard to see how they could physically have built the pyramids. Or why they would have done so.

Adriens evidence consisted of a refutation that they were built by those Pharoahs that the Egyptologists said they were built by. So what happened is that people found charcoal and other organic material predating the Egyptologists story by more than 300 years. This actually on the pyramids. This is a refutation. The pyramids have to be there before you can have charcoal on them.

Adrien claimed this as evidence. Claimed he had documentary evidence, this being a lie, and yet he made links to distract people. Yet the carbon-dating evidence contradicted the lie he was trying to put over, that he said he had documentary evidence for.

Why don’t they have documentary evidence? They had parchment after all?
    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

When it comes to the bureaucratic class, they are a drain on the farmer and businessman, except to the extent that they clarify legal rights, and stop the other looters. They cannot be a massive benefit per se to the wealth creation process.

A good city ought to start as a service centre to the farming industry. What is needed to create wealth is for the farmers, and later other businessmen, to feel so secure in their legal rights that they keep throwing everything they have to spare back into their business. They keep investing in capital goods rather than luxuries.

The resources needed to make pyramids must detract from that to the point of stripping private business of their reinvestment and therefore creating poverty.

They said that historical evidence had the pyramids built in the reign of three Pharoahs. But what historical evidence is this? Evidence that quaries in the region were commandeered and most of their output sent to the Nile? Evidence of massive spreading poverty?

None of this is clear. So on the face of it we have claims made that cannot be true, and the evidence for these claims is extremely vague.
    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Off the coasts of various countries we have evidence of underwater cities. If these underwater cities had been above water since the Summerian invention (I would say “reinvention”) of the written language we ought surely know about them. About their people. We ought know their names and something about their civilisations.

So if even one of these cities is real they ought to predate the widespread post Summerian use of the written word.

I think they do predate this time. And if indeed one of these is proved to be real it ought to get us to rethink entirely our view of history.

A disaster as bad as the Quartenary extinction appears to have been, could easily have sent us into a dark ages. Caused us to lose all our technology and our ability to write.

We ought to look to this earlier time to see who made the pyramids. Because we want to find a culprit that at least can do the job.

  358. You’re right about the in many ways flawless masonry of the pyramids and from what the historical record shows and obviously most is missing they evolved over centuries from simple, low, rock-cut tombs to massive blocks of stone slid into place, it is thought with liquid gypsum mortar.

Science and technique are cumulative. The achievement of material well-being for large groups of people creates the expectation that that well-being will continue which gives rise to anxiety which in turn fuels the productive forces and underpins the determination of the ruling castes.

  359. “But its just hard to see how they could physically have built the pyramids. Or why they would have done so. ”

I don’t understand why you don’t understand why they would have done so. All emergent ruling castes at crucial periods in history have built monumental architecture as a deliberate conspicuous display of their power and wealth and their identity with the gods, secular or religious or both.

1930 excavations of Jericho uncovered a settlement consisting of about 70 buildings housing perhaps as many as a 1000 people. Also found was a tower 7m high, 8m wide at the base with an internal staircase of 22 steps. Such architecture too was unprecedented for that much earlier period – as far as we know.

  360. At what point does the extent of the project become unrealistic for the people involved? Were there a thousand pyramids would it still be realistic to think they had been made by people who allegedly had only bronze tools?

For starters I’m yet to see any evidence that they either did do, or could do, the job. Secondly the carbon dating rules them out by more than three hundred years.

  361. Unrealistic you say. Oh Birdie, the heart has its reasons that reason knows not of.

  362. Philomena. I really dig it when people from another country translate my stuff into their language.

This is a translation of my constellation of allegations:

You see how you are fighting a losing battle with skilled propagandists such as myself out there?

I’ll get all the foreigners on my side and then the new thinking will filter back into the English-Speaking world and become hardened dogma.

  363. “You see how you are fighting a losing battle with skilled propagandists such as myself out there?”

Au contraire. I have beat you singlehandedly.
